Re: Yallop From Great Yarmouth
I believe we may be distant cousins. My GGG Grandparents were Ephraim Yallop and Mary Ann West, Their Daughter Charlotte Yallop and Griffin Harbord were my GG Grandparents, Their Daughter Charlotte Harbord married Joseph Marvell, and they had a daughter called Edith Alice who married my grandfather William Charles.
My Father often spoke about a connection to Gunton Hall in Norfolk, and as far as my research shows, this was owned by the Harbords.
Ephraim moved to Sheffield and died in Brightside in Jan 1883.
I would be pleased to share any mutually

Re: Yallop From Great Yarmouth
I am also related to Ephraim and Mary Ann through daughter Ellen Maria. Question, there is an entry on the 1881 census British Census that shows a Charlotte Marvell married to a JH Marvell her birthday is show as 1852 and his as 1846 with children AR, Griffin, Florence and Fred all from. Charlotte shows from Grand Yarmoth (which is why I'm asking) Wondering if they belong to you and JH is actually the Joseph you reference below.
Would love to share/get any other info on Yallop family relations. Thanks, Greg

Re: Yallop From Great Yarmouth
Hi,
I'm researching my grandmother's tree. She remembers staying with someone called Yallop in Great Yarmouth when she was a child (30s/40s), after she lost her mother. We have found a Yallop/Hemmig wedding (she remembers someone called Hemmig, she believes he was German or Swiss). Do you have anyone of this name on your tree?
My grandmother believes that she was related to the Yallops, but so far we haven't found a connection - other names on my tree are Ward, Steward, Pitt, Levack and Yapp. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks, R Brown.

Re: Yallop From Great Yarmouth
Hi,
My grandmother was Alice Ambrozine Frederica Pitt. Later Hemmig. I believe she ran a boarding house next door to The Hippodrome in Yarmouth after her husband died. She married a Hemmig who was a Hippodrome circus performer. Her father was William Herbert Pitt 1806-1906. Her mother Alice Margery Martha Levack 1868-1931. We can trace both sides back to the 1700's in part.
Hope this helps.
Caroline
