Hi, my name is Tom Yalden and I believe you are on the right track with the surname originating in England. Thhe only info I have is in the family Bible, However, the towns listed have duplicates in New England; oxford, cambridge and others. What have you come up with? My Dad was born in Ogddensburg,NY but lived most of his life in Syracuse,NY.

I would be very interested to find out more about the places you have mentioned although none of them at the moment seem to tie in with my lot. I am in England I live about 25 miles away from london to the north.
my interest in the name stems from my maiden name Yeldon. Although in the past the name has been writen down and spelt with many variations including Yelding yaldon etc my line appears to go as far back as the 1600's in Hampshire England. I havent done any studies on the American lines although there does appear to be quite a few people in America researching varriants of the name. Do you have the names in the bible I may be able to find out more for you.

#3. I don;t know if my other mesdages went through. I thought you were here in the states. Since you are near London have you been to the town of Yalding to the south of London? Some of the names in the family Bible are; Caroline Yalden b.July
2,1861,Mary Yalden b. Oct.15,1865 in Agusta, Sharlot Ann Yalden b.June 5,1870 in Agusta. There asre duplicate towns here in Newe England and southeast Canada so I don't know where these are and this is slowing me down. Perhaps the odd spelling of Shalot would help. What have you learned?

Hi Tom
no ive not been to Yalding in Kent but there are several other towns in England with similar sounding names
Yeading on the west side of London near southall
Yeadon near Bradford
Yelden in Bedfordshire this was also known as Yeldon some time ago
Yelling near St. Neots in Cambridgeshire
all of the above names i have come accross in the research i have done quite often within the same families this is due to pronounciation and no or little knowledge of how their name should be written.
This in mind is probably why sharlot's name appears as it does you will probably find in a later document it is writen another way.
the town of Agusta is not one that i have come accross before, i have looked in the road atlas that i have for the British Isles it does not appear.
Augusta does appear several times in the states and in Canada.

Hi: During one of my infrequent searches I came across youe messages regarding Yalden. My information is that the name may be found in the south of England perhaps in the home counties. My father and his three brothers were sent to Canada while very young because their mother could not support them after their father died, I am talking about early 1900's. Two eventually went to the States, two remained in Canada. The name Yalden-Thomson sometimes pops up, ...DSY

My two uncles went the U.S. in the 1920's. Their names were Herbert and Ralph. If any of descendents read this, I would like to hear from them. I am in the process of attempting to trace the family name. I have come across several hyphenated "Yaldens" here in Canada and in Australia...DSY

Hello, my fathers family of Yaldens all originated in the South of England, I myself was born in Portmouth, until we immigrated to Australia. I should be able to obtain family imformation as my father has done extensive searches.
