I was wondering how common the last name Yalch is? My last name is Yalch, and I didn't think of it as being common as other last names, but it is quite frequent in coming up on searches. I was borned and raised in upstate NY, and would love to know the history of anybody else with the last name Yalch.

Hi Crystal!
I won't say that Yalch is the most common surname, but there are quite a few of us researching different branches. My branch of the Yalch family came from Austria and settled in Hazleton, PA and the surronding area.

Hi Crystal,

Sorry I haven't respnded sooner to the message you posted for me. I am just seeing this now. I am also not ggod about knowing much about the last name either. I have heard the same thing and I do believe we have some paperwork on the original spelling and where it originated.
I currently live in Chicago and I am actually moving to New Mexico at the end of August. I hope we arent confused with one another. Good luck in your search and sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
