Looking for any connections to Yakel's in New York State (Peter, Leonard and others) who came to America from Prussia in the mid-to-late 1800's. I have several names and marriages in the family but need more help. Thanks!

Hello. I also am searching for Yakel from New York. I know that my grandmother came from Brooklyn. her name was Mary Elizabeth McGarry and she married my grandfather Charles Augustus Yakel. They are both buried in Betheseda Cemetery in Terre Haute, Ind. Charles has a brother John who married a Minnie McCarty. They lived in Indianapolis, Ind. I thought that my grandfather's father was Augustus Yakel and hih wife was Maggie Kellie. Oh if we have the same link I would be so happy. I have no one else to ask. Please send me any infor if you have it. I can tell you all about this line but i am not sure if I am correct about his parents. I do know that his mother was a Kellie. Thanks you Sally Leclercq

Clara was my great grandmother; she was born c. 1850 and was married to Lewis/Louis Walch. She died and is buried in Norman, OK.
I've been told Clara and Lewis were married or were from Pennsylvania (perhaps McKees Rocks, near Pittsburgh?) but am not certain.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, my name is Allison Yakel and I live in wisconsin...I was just wondering if you are part of the Yakel family whose name was changed from Joeckle (or something close to that) That is the original German spelling...Well, I was just wondering if we were related somehow. My grandfather was Donald Yakel, Sr. and his father was Frederick Yakel. Well, thanks... Allison

My g-grandfather was Frederick W. Yackels from Defiance, Ohio. He died in 1917 and also lived in Michigan. If anyone can tell me anything or think this may connect to them, I'd appreciate it.

I wish that I could answer yes about relatives. I know so little. My grandfather Charles married Mary Elizabeth McGarry. They were supposedly from New York Albany area. Charles father was Gus Yakel This could be August, Augustus, or Gustav. No one knows. They called him Gus and he was married to a Kelly. Ether Augusta Kelly. They called her Essy. No one knows much else. I do know Charles was in Illinois at one time. They ended up in Indiana. Still searching and waiting for any leads. Sally

The Emmanuel Church of Dayton,Ohio. Certificate of Baptism on the 22th day of June 1902, was for Irma Schmacker, b.6-11-1902, d/o Louis H Schmacker & Lillis Mary Yackley (also spelled on other documents: Yackle) The Catholic Telegraph of June 21, 2002, has a nice story of a Precious Blood Sister celebrating her 100th birthday. Several of us researchers have much more of this story and the family.
