Jake Yake was married to my great grandmother. I never met him, but I would like to learn more about him. Please let me know if this name shows up in your family files. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have very little information about my Jake Yake. He was married to my great grandmother and her name was Rosa (maiden name of Bertschy). She was born in 1875 and died in 1969. Assuming Jake was about the same age, he would have been born in the mid-1870's. As far as I know, my great, grandmother lived in the Detroit area all of her adult life. So I'm guessing that Jake lived and died there as well. Please let me know if any of this sounds like a match. Thank you. Gary Peltier

Have a possible...
Jacob Yake 1879-1956
He was born in Ontario, his family moved to Alpena, Mi.
I have Jacob married and 9 children from 1899 to 1918
His wife, Ann, died in 1918. Most of the children lived
in Detroit area, such as Farmington, Woodhaven, Ferndale.
Could Rose be second wife?
I have information on the children and there children.
Do you have and names you can not match?
Where is Rosa buried?

Don, thanks for the response. Rosa is buried in the Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Mt. Clemens, MI. She is buried next to her daughter Lillian Martin (nee Jury). Rosa's marker simply says "Mother, Rosa M. Yake, 1875 - 1969" I never heard if she had any children with Jake Yake. Gary

Hi Don, I have a Sanilac Co, Mi marriage record for Martha Yake b. Ontario, living in Worth Twp, Sanilac, Co Mi, daughter of Adam Yake and Jane Long.
Martha age 29 m. John S Knisley age 24, (living Marion, MI, born in Worth Twp. on 18 Sept 1895).
John (was bro. of Elizabeth Knisley who was b. in Uxbridge, Ont. in 1849 and who married Isiah(Isaac-Isaia-Issac)Cooley-my GGGrandparents);son of Samuel Knisley and Anna Graham.
I suspect these families lived around each other for many generations and we have several inter-marriages between them.
Hoping to hear from you, Kathy Abbey-nee Brown

Surnames: Jacob Yake
There is a Jacob Yake in my family tree as well. I am not sure how far back, but I will give you as much as possible. My mother was Donna (Roskam) and my father is George Nervik. My father's parents are Doug Nervik and Barbara (Yakes). My great grandfather was Edward Yake(s) and his wife was Anna. My grandmother is from Detroit. Her mother and father were also from Detroit. My great grandfather had 7 or 8 siblings. Their mother died in child birth of the youngest, and the father pretty much couldn't handle the children. My grandfather was the oldest and was about 20 when the youngest died. He raised the rest of his siblings. Originally their last name was Yake, but my grandfather and a couple of the other children changed their name to Yakes (because there was a place locally called Yakes Farm), or so the story goes. Half of my relatives have the last name Yake, and half have the last name Yakes. Up just a few generations was Jacob Yake. I do not have much more information in front of me at this time, but if you think this could be a hit, let me know.
