Meagan,
Unfortunately, my documentation is pretty weak. As a child, I was told that Rosa moved back to Michigan to live with her married daughter (my grandmother- Lillian) because her husband (Jake Yake) had died. Lillian was living on Martin Road in St. Clair Shores at the time. I was told that this happened after I was born (which was in 1956- the same year that your Jake Yake died). Rosa had another daughter that I met and she was known to me as Aunt Kit. Aunt Kit was quite outspoken and I enjoyed seeing her. I believe that there were two other siblings, but I don't recall ever meeting them. I'll try to find out if one of the other siblings was Louie Jury. I do have two photographs of Rosa that were taken around 1963 and Rosa would have been around 88 at the time. Both of the pictures were taken in the home on Martin Road- one shows Rosa and Lillian and the other shows Rosa, Lillian, and me. Lillian was very special to me as a child and I enjoyed visiting her as often as I could. Rosa was very short and we called her our "Little Grandma." Eventually, Rosa needed nursing home care and was moved to the Clinton View Nursing Home on Harper Road in Clinton Township. She died in 1969 at the age of 94. I was 13 at the time and this was the first funeral that I attended. Lillian's son, Reginald Peltier, preached the funeral. Rosa and Lillian are buried side-by-side to each other in the Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Mount Clemens. I also have a photograph of their graves. Please email me directly at
peltier213@aol.com if you think that there is a connection. I am also trying to find out the name of Rosa's 1st husband. Rosa's maiden name was Bertschy, but she married a Mr. Jury. I have a memory of Lillian telling me that Rosa was born in Berlin, Germany and that she sailed to the US as a very young girl with her parents. Someday, I'd like to check this out as well. Thanks so much for your input.
