Your information on Jacob Yake is correct (for the most part). I am Jacob Yake's (from Alpena MI) great great granddaughter. His first wife Anna (not Ann) had nine children with him (2 are still alive). His second wife was Rosa Jury. They had no children together. The two of them moved out to Winlock WA in the 1920's. My great grandfather was the oldest of the nine children. A few of his siblings (and himself) moved to WA as well. In 1956 when Jacob died, Rosa's children moved her back to MI. One of Rosa's son's names was Louie Jury, who stayed with my great grandmother and great grandfather and my grandmother for a short while. My grandmother is from Detroit MI, Barbara Ann Yakes, and she is still living. She has all of the information on the Yake family history. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.

Well, actually I have three Jacob Yakes in my family tree then. My gg gf, my gggg gf, and my 2nd cousin. He lives in Maytown, WA. Are you a Yake as well? How are you related? I have been on the phone with my grandmother, and she is astonished that the response was so quick. (Technology). I would like to get all the information that you have, just to compare it with ours. If there is any holes we could possibly fill them, and maybe fill in some gaps for you. Let me know.

Meagan,
Your information about Jacob Yake and his second wife- Rosa Jury sounds like it might be the match that I was looking for. My grandmother was Lillian Jury and her mother was Rosa Yake. Rosa Yake is buried next to her daughter in Mt. Clemens, MI. She was born in 1875 and died in 1969. As a boy, I remember visiting her several times in the nursing home when she was in her 90's. Before going into the nursing home, she lived with Lillian. If you have any information that shows that my Rosa Yake is the same one that was married to your Jacob Yake I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Gary,

Do you have any documentation showing Rosa living in WA before moving back to MI? Or do you know if she had a son named Louie? My grandmother is convinced that your Rosa is the same person. She knew Rosa, and explained her to be a very nice person. My grandmother liked her. She would have been my grandmother's step grandmother. If you have any other information about her that I could have my grandmother confirm, that would help. I would love to help you as best as I can. Let me know.

Meagan,
Unfortunately, my documentation is pretty weak. As a child, I was told that Rosa moved back to Michigan to live with her married daughter (my grandmother- Lillian) because her husband (Jake Yake) had died. Lillian was living on Martin Road in St. Clair Shores at the time. I was told that this happened after I was born (which was in 1956- the same year that your Jake Yake died). Rosa had another daughter that I met and she was known to me as Aunt Kit. Aunt Kit was quite outspoken and I enjoyed seeing her. I believe that there were two other siblings, but I don't recall ever meeting them. I'll try to find out if one of the other siblings was Louie Jury. I do have two photographs of Rosa that were taken around 1963 and Rosa would have been around 88 at the time. Both of the pictures were taken in the home on Martin Road- one shows Rosa and Lillian and the other shows Rosa, Lillian, and me. Lillian was very special to me as a child and I enjoyed visiting her as often as I could. Rosa was very short and we called her our "Little Grandma." Eventually, Rosa needed nursing home care and was moved to the Clinton View Nursing Home on Harper Road in Clinton Township. She died in 1969 at the age of 94. I was 13 at the time and this was the first funeral that I attended. Lillian's son, Reginald Peltier, preached the funeral. Rosa and Lillian are buried side-by-side to each other in the Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Mount Clemens. I also have a photograph of their graves. Please email me directly at peltier213@aol.com if you think that there is a connection. I am also trying to find out the name of Rosa's 1st husband. Rosa's maiden name was Bertschy, but she married a Mr. Jury. I have a memory of Lillian telling me that Rosa was born in Berlin, Germany and that she sailed to the US as a very young girl with her parents. Someday, I'd like to check this out as well. Thanks so much for your input.

According to my grandmother, this is a definite connection. She remembers Rosa vividly (being her step grandmother). All of the pieces seem to match.

I don't know if my Jacob Yake is the same as the one your looking for, I have a Jacob Yake who took his mothers last name Cameron, Married a Charlotte (Lottie) then a Alice.
He is the son of a Michael Yake and Sophia Cameron.
His son Arthur was the father of my aunt, His other son William by a second marriage was the god father of her children, They both lived in Washington State, Although I have found Jacob in both Washington and Michigan.
I am looking for information on this family for my aunt, she didn't know her father till she was a teenager, She would like to know a little about his family.
Thanks
Teri
