Can anyone here help?

Hi There

My name is Susan McEwen (nee Yake) and I am a descendant of Jacob Yake (my grandfather was Marshall). I recently participated in the genotype project through National Geographic. Unfortunately, since I am female, I cannot trace my father's line (no "Y" chromosome). I also do not have any brothers, living uncles and my father passed away.

Are there any males that are direct descendents of Jacob Yake that would consent to a DNA swab of their inner cheek to trace the family line back centuries? If so, I am happy to pay for the process.

Just as a point of interest, I have found Yakes as far away as Khazikstan and Mongolia.

Sue:

I have 6 Jacob Yakes in my list. This family just used the same names over and over. Which Jacob is yours, who was his Father, who was his wife?

Yah

This naming your kids after yourself is ridiculous - say I with 4 generations of "john" preceded by "jan" on hubby's side.

Here's my scoop:
It's starts waay back at Daniel but a little closer in date:
Jacob Yake married to Sarah Hatter on Dec 30, 1839
Son Epyous born Feb 15, 1840 is my great grandfather
Epyous married to Sarah Ann Doaner
Son James Marshall born May 15, 1874 is my grandfather
Married Phoebe Close Feb 6, 1907
Son Raymond Leonard Marshall Yake was born September 13, 1929 (we used to tease him about the market crash).

Thanks!

Susan:

I would like to talk to you, I, too, am following the Yake line. I have lots of information and will share. Please email me at woodland3@sympatico.ca or call me at 1-519-337-5997. I live in Sarnia, Ontario. If you give me your phone number, I can call you as I have a plan that allows me to call Canada and the US for the same price.

Cheryl Wood (My mother was a Yake)

Hi Cheryl

I'd love to chat with you as well. I need to ask if we can defer for a little bit because I have some health issues to attend to for the next month or so.

Thanks!
Sue

Hello, Try contacting a few of the men named Yake in Stouffville. Eldon Yake (he's getting on in years) he and Dorothy have three sons. You could try Dale Yake, he is about 45 years of age, he would be a good candidate for your DNA testing. We have a Jacob Yake in our family tree.
