I am from Fond du Lac Wi. and I am interested in the Yakaitis family ancestry. My grandfather and grandmother came to the USA around 1910 or 1912. My grandfathers name was spelled Yakaitis and my grandmother was Norkaitis somewhere in the translation our name took on an E instead of an I. I do not have very much information about either of my grandparents such as if there were any other relatives that came to the USA with them. If anyone has any information I would be interested.

Hi, I have a Joseph Yakaites on my tree and was wondering if you might have one on yours. I remember a Antionette Yakaites (Tony) growing up in FDL. She was a good friend of my grandmother, Elaine Thurk.

Is there any connection between Joe Yakaites and Toni's husband, Frank?

Thanks in advance.

Joe Yakaites was the brother of my father Frank Yakaites. Toni was my mother and yes she was a good friend of Elaine Thurk, hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the information. What a small world. So, just to confirm, Joe's wife was Pearl Yanke? My Pearl Yanke is the sister of my g-grandmother Meta Yanke on my Dad side of the family (John Bauer/Lillian Brunau Bauer). Elaine Thurk is my grandmother on my Mom's side and I remember going to Tony's house a few times in NFDL as a young girl. I think I may have even attended Tony's funeral with my Dad too.

I don't have much info on Joe/Pearl, would you have some info? If so, would you be willing to share that part of the tree?

Thanks in advance.

Pearl was married before she married Joe. I did not know her husband but they had two children both sons Robert and Jerry (could be Gerald). Robert died of a heart attach and Jerry still lives in Fond du lac there name is Lamb. Joe and Pearl had one child a son and his name is Jeffery and he lives in Oshkosh and works at Oshkosk truck. Jeff lived with my parents after Pearl and Joe died. I dont have dates of the events but I dont think that would be too hard to find out. Like I said I do not know what Pearls first husband name was other than Lamb. Joe and Pearl also lived in NFLD. Joe was an older brother of my father. That is about all I can think of at the time.

Surnames: Yakaitis
I was married to Ruthanne Yakaitis in 1970. Her parents were Walter Yakaitis and Margaret. She has a brother named John. We were divorced in 1975 and she married Jon Warren Olds. They have since separated or divorced. She lives in California. Her mother passed away in 1985. Her father is still alive and living in Sacramento. I know Walter was in the Air Force for 23 years and retired around 1968. Ruthanne was born in Arkansas. I know they lived in Germany for awhile and in North Highlands, California, where her brother currently lives with his wife Anne. Walter was of Lithuanian ancestry. I hope this helps.

Surnames: Yakaites, Norkaitis, Narkates
My great-grandfather was Peter or Piotr Narkates who allegedly migrated to the USA in approximately 1897 from Poland, Prussia or Austria. The Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex search for Narkates & Norkaitis referenced: Krengel, Sara Ester, 1819, father- Joel, mother - Stopnicer, Maidenname - Marya Hadassa from the Province of Krakow in Galicia. If you feel that we may be related in some sense and/or have ever heard of the surname, NARKATES…please write me as my knowledge thus far is very limited. Thank you.

I would like to offer you some information. Unfortunately I am just starting my search. My paternal grandmothers maiden name was Yakatis....I am not even sure as to our nationality. Maybe you could help me out with that question. She was married and raised her family in Pennsylvania. I know my grandfather was Litheuenian. Good Luck to all!
