Hi, I am trying to get my family history started...I noticed your posted message. My grandmothers name was Wanda Yakatis....I discovered that I also lived in St . Clair as a child...I have family in Schukillhaven. These are paternal family...My mothers family are all in Texas. Former Ida Yakaitis ...sister of my grandmother was said to have lived near Houston, Tx...Can we be related? Good Luck!

There might be a chance that we are somehow related How funny I never even knew my sister was trying to find out more on my family history, and I start looking. It seems when my great grandfather Anthony Jakaitis (Yakaitis) came over, he came over sometime around 1893-1906 probably closer to the later date. Being that my grandfather is dead, and my father never asked any questions, I have no idea how many brothers or sisters my g-grandad had. I know he settled and stayed in St. Clair until his death in 1956, and he worked as a coal miner. I just wish I had more living relatives that could tell me more. Tell me more of your grandparents and great-grandparents' history. This might help and add to what little my sister and I know about my family. Strange enough, we could be related. Wouldn't mind knowing. I sure know there are not too many Yekaitis's and/or Jakaitis's running around here. Can't wait to hear back from any and all.

Looks like I have to jump in on this conversation.....I found my great-grandmother's death certificate. Her father was Matthew Yakaitis. Mother unknown. Her name was Julia and she lived in New Philadelphia, PA area. With her mother unknown, this may be a tough one to connect the dots but maybe someone knows if Matthew had any brothers and we can work from there??

My grandfather was Peter Narkates, father of Howard Eugene Narkates, Sr., and lived in Birmingham, Alabama. He was married to Frances Mauldin. He worked for one of the railroads, but I don't remember which. I was always told that he came to the US from Poland as a young fellow about 12 years old and in the company of a brother. That's about all I know except I may be able to remember the names of his other children, my aunts and uncles.

I now live in Hanover, PA
