From: rcyahnke@doit.wisc.edu (Ross Yahnke) Richard Yahnke was my paternal grandfather who I believe grew up in the Adams-Friendship area. I recall an uncle Fay Yahnke who back in the 60's did some geneological poking around into the Yahnke family in Wisconsin, I may even have some of those papers around if you're interested... - Ross

I am from the Yahnke line located in NY ..... Up until recently I thought we were all located within 100 miles of each other .... I have not been able to trace my ancestry much past my grandfather [Carl(Karl)]. I never spoke to him about his father ... nor did my father speak to him about his grandfather.

Hi Barb,
I have many Yahnke relatives in St. Louis. An Uncle Harold died in the 1980 at abt. 80 something. He was born in Illinois. The name changes so much, it's hard to locate ancestors. Spelling goes from Jahnke , Janke, Yahnke, Yahncke, Yohncke, etc. I am having a hard time locating ancestors because of the name change. the grandfather of Harold was Heinrich (Henry) Jahnke from Hannover Germany, born 1829. Not sure this info is what your searching for, but fun to communicate. Dee

Dee-I have requested copies of birth certificates so I can get to the right spelling also, it appears that the name was changed. let you know what I find out.
|
Thanks Barb, Will be awaiting any news from you on the Yahnke name research.
Regards Dee

My father, William Carl Yahnke (born Jahnke) was born and raised in Wisconsin. Waukesha, I believe. 10 or 11 brothers and sisters, some of which were Edna, Frank, Otto, Edith, Min... Parents I believe were Albert and Marie Jahnke from Germany. Did you by any chance get information on this family?
