Hello, I am looking for any Yackel's from Texas.
I am the daughter of Herbert Charles Yackel and
the granddaughter of Herbert Chester Yackel.
My great grandfather was Peter John Yackel.
He lived in Columbus, Colorado County, Texas.
I know there was a large family, with at least 3 wives.
Looking for any info on him! Thanks! Contact

Hi. My name is Liz and I am a Yackel but from the state of NY! I am doing the geneology of my families also. My mother was speaking to my aunt, who is also a Yackel and my Mom was told that there was a Peter John Yackel listed on Ellis Island. I do not know if it is any relation to you, but thought that it might be. Good luck with your search and hope that you have better luck than I am having! Liz

Thank you for this info. There are lots of Yackels in Texas, but little info! Three brothers settled near here, one stayed on the East coast and one went West. Maybe we are closer than you think!

The Yackel that I am trying to search is Edward Yackel. He is my Great Grandfather and I am trying to see when this family did come here. I have sent papers to the existing family members to see if there is a connection! If so I will definitly let you know!

I don't know if this is the same family, Yakel or Yack, because my Grandfather George Yack was originally Joklovich or Yaklovich. He came to the USA in approx. l885 at the age of l6 from Metlika, Austria. I know nothing of his parents or family. Sure hope there is a connection here. He settled in Wyoming and later Utah. He married Maryina Felix, also from Austrian heritage. He died in l950 in Neola, Utah.

One of them was names George! But I do not see where there would be a connection! Sorry that I couldn't help you! Keep trying!

The John Peter Yackel listed at Ellis Island is my Great-Great Grandfather.
I am the one who had his name listed. He came to this contry pre-civil war and settled eventually
in WIsconsin. He then moved to Sanborn Minnesota circa late 1860's. He died there circa 1912.
