I am descended from Don Juan De Xavier of Navarre, (either France or Spain.) I am curious does anyone know anything about him? He was born abt. 1652, I believe from a wealthy family. There is speculation that he was born at Xavier Castle in Navarre. His son Valentine Xavier was said to have been a French Huegenot.

Here's a little blurb about the family that might help. :)

1685 - Some of the family of St. Francis Xavier, living at Xavier, and bearing the name of the town as a family name, had embraced the Protestant religion, and one of them, a devout young Huguenot, Don Jaun Xavier, left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685) by Louis XIV. He settled in London, gradually changed the family name to Sevier, pronounced like the English adjective "severe," and his first name to John. He married a London girl named Smith. This was the grandfather of General John Sevier (Folmsbee, Stanley J. John Sevier Empire Builder).

Which Valentine are you referring to? Theo one bn 1747 or the one bn 1701-02? Please e-mail me at dpsears@artelco.com

Why is it, that everything I read in Family Trees, have Sevier's & Xavier's birth & death dates a hundred years different than ie "Wikipedia" & other Encyclopedia's? St Francis' birth is said to be April 1506. Here are some links. Is this the family related to Valentine Sevier?
