Going backwards, I've found a link between myself and Don Juan De Xavier through my great grandfather, Clarence Enoch Dayley. His mother was Annie Sever, whose father was Herman Severe (b. 1820). His father was James Severe (b. 1775) who was the son of Robert Severe (b. 1750, Virginia). Robert's father was William Severe (b. 1702, England), making Robert the grandson of Valentine "The Huguenot" Sevier (b. 1678, Navarre, France). But his mother was Catherine O'Neil, not Joanna Goad. So, where, if at all, does Gen. John Sevier fit into this tree? Was he Robert's half-brother?

Valentine "The Huguenot" Sevier (b.1678) was Valentine "The Immigrant" Sevier's (b. 1 Feb 1701) father. Valentine "the Immigrant" was the one married to Joanna Goad and was Gen. John Sevier's father and I beleive Robert Sevier(b. 1750)was one of John Sevier's younger brothers. I'm related to another of his younger brothers- Valentine Sevier (b. 1747)- and both Robert and he are said to have fought with their brother John Sevier in 1780 in an important battle of the Revolutionary war at King's Mountain, South Carolina. Hope I was of some help, Alison

Which Valentine Sevier was brother to John, the first governor of Tennessee?
|
I believe they are cousins. I am a decendant of William Seveir who was married to Catherine O'Neil. William and Valentine who is married to Joanna Goode are brothers. It is Valentine's son who is the General John Seveir in question. That would make them cousins I believe.

sorry about spelling. It should be spelled Sevier

I can't find any information on him ever being married. What year was he born?

I am trying to find out when St. Francisco de Xavier was actually born. The one who is the father to Don Juan de Xavier that is.
|
According to this site... http://www.xaviermissionaries.org/M_Usa/Xavier_Photos.htmSt Francis Xavier was born April 7, 1506. BTW - I fall into this great family through Archibald Sevier. He was the great grandson of Gen. John Sevier. Archibald had a daughter, Catherine, who married my Great-Great Grandfather, James Jasper Myers. I am 8 generations removed from Gen. John Sevier. That's pretty close.
