Hi,
I am trying to trace our family history. The names I am researching are Frank(Franklin) Xander and his father, also Frank Xander. Both were butchers. Family came from PA(I think) to Indiana? then settled in Illinois where they are buried. Any connection? Also, we were told we are "Black Dutch" which I understand is Native American and immigrant. Any stories like that in your family? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I am a Xander (I currently live in Pittsburgh, PA). My father is Richard Xander originally from Lehighton, Pennsylvania (near Allentown). I have done a little research a few years ago and found that a David Xander immigrated to Philadelphia from Germany (Bavaria area) around 1736 on a ship called the "Nancy". My dad's family is "Pennsylvania Dutch" or "Pennsylvania German". That is interesting about the "Black German", but is completely understandable, as our people mostly lived in the "wilderness" and probably came across many Native Americans. I would interested in corresponding with you and maybe we could trade some information. I've often thought about getting together a huge Xander reunion. Return e-mail me at kmxander@rssm.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Deni, one more thing I forgot to add to my message, my grandfather, Clark Xander, was also a butcher!
