Looking for info on Wyberg family, particularly Charles A. Wyberg who I believe immigrated from Sweden to Minnesota in the late 1800's. I think the name was originally spelled Wieberg. He married Anna Myers circa 1893/94 and they had two children, Mae and Carl. Carl married Ruth Jensen in 1924. Look forward to hearing from anyone who might be related and/or has additional info. Thanks.

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
Wes, I am research a Wiberg (Wyberg) family in MN. The family changes the 'i' and 'y' all the time. So far I do not have a connection to your family. For what it is worth tho, I have Axel born 6-8-1867 married to Winnie Cotton. Axel came to NY in 1888 from Sweden. Axel's intent to naturalize papers were filed in 1895 in Annandale MN.

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
Kathy,
Appreciate your input. I know what you mean about the interchanging of the "i" and "y" in the Wyberg name. It is my understanding that my great grandfather's (Charles Wyberg) name was spelled with an "i" until he came to America, at which time it was changed to "y."
Unfortunately, I don't know much about him - he deserted his family when my grandfather was 12 and no one heard from him after that time.
I do not know if he had any brothers, sisters, or parents that came with him from Sweden. The dates you mentioned are, however, in the right time frame that he could somehow be related. Good luck and let me know if you make any headway on this. I will pass on any additional info that I may come across.

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
I am a greatgrandson of Axel Wiberg. You are correct in regard to his wife's name. His son Carl changed the spelling of his name to Wyberg and married Lydia Olson whose parents came from Sweden and resided in the Anoka area. Carl passed away circa 1936. Lydia died 1982. They had Carl and Walter. I am Walter's son.

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
Kurt,
Do you know if Axel Wiberg had a brother (or any other relative) named Charles August Wiberg or Wyberg?
Thanks, Wes Barrett

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
I'm not certain of Axel's siblings. My uncle, Axel's grandson has many photographs from that period. Do you have a photo of Charles Wiberg? If so, and are able to scan it, you could send it to my e-mail address noted. I'll sift through available photos and try to match them.
How is your last name connected to Wiberg?

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
Hi Wes and Kurt, I am a direct descendant of Axel, also. Say how long have you two been researching? Maybe you checked this already, and maybe the "i" doesn't work for the Ruth you are looking for. But there are 2 Ruth Wiberg's in the MN death index. Ruth Florence Wiberg died in Isanti Cty 2-24-1927 Ruth Esther Wiberg died in Chisago Cty 5-25-1968 her mom's maiden name is Erickson.... No Ruth Wybergs in the list. Kurt - I know you're from MN. Wes, where are you from? Best Regards, Kathy from Anoka, MN

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
Kurt, So did you know any of Axel and Winnie's other kids? Mabel, Gladys, Tina, Viola, Lillian, Oscar, Willis or Dorothy? Do you have contact with any of these people's descendants? In addition to Carl and Walter as children of Carl and Lydia I have Clarence, who died in 1926 at 3 days old. Regards, Kathy

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
I met Oscar once as a child. I recall that he had a Winnebago. I met his son Oscar who resided in the Aitkin area prior to his death. I never met Bill though I do recall his wife, Aunt Gerty. Their daughter lives near Blaine. My dad has spoken of Mabel, Gladys, Viola, and Dorothy, but I don't recall Tina or Lillian.
My dad and Uncle have spoken of a brother. Their memories of him are very faint. They started putting the memories together about 15 years ago and we attempted to locate a grave site. We believe we found an unmarked grave. 1926 doesn't seem to fit though. My dad was born in 1927 and recalls seeing the child. Could there have been a fourth child? If you have additional information on Clarence, I would really be interested.

Re: Wyberg Family Research MN
I have a nice photo of Axel, Carl and another gentleman taken I believe in the early 1930's. My uncle has several photos of Carl, Oscar, Bill and their sisters. Some of the better ones are from a lakeside picnic.
