My ancestor is John Wyatt, b 1772 NC m. Sarah Trammell (often mistaken for Tremble). John's father is a James Wyatt per the testimony of John's daughter Zilpha Wyatt Flynn. Little is known of James, other than he served in the Rev. War and lived in NC. Perhaps he was born 1740-1750.

Edmund Wyatt, b. 1768 VA m. Mary Collette. We are an exact 67 marker DNA match with the descendents of Edmund Wyatt. My 100 year old grandmother's cousin (a male Wyatt) took the test. A 100% 67 marker match gives a 90% chance of a common ancestor at 4 generations out. Our John Wyatt is that 4th generation. By what I can tell, there is no direct relationship between John, Edmund & Samuel. But what about James Wyatt b 1740-1750? Might he be brothers with Edmund &/or Samuel? First cousins maybe? Some speculation suggests James MAY have been the son of another James Wyatt whose wife was named Bethlehem. James Sr was said to have travelled with two brothers William and John from Northumberland, VA. John was said to have returned to VA while William & James settled in NC. Some other Wyatt's attached to James & Bethlehem may be Abraham Wyatt, Daniel Wyatt, Edward Wyatt, William Wyatt & John Wyatt, all of Tryon Co NC/Spartenburg SC 1770's or so.

Samuel Wyatt b 1755 VA m. Rebecca Bennett. We are an exact 25 marker match (the descendent only took a 25 marker test) as is Samuel & Edmund with each other. Some have postulated that Samuel & Edmund are brothers. I tend to agree but can't say for sure. If brothers, who might their parents be? A lot of information on the web points to a John Wyatt of either VA or England. He may have married a Jane Stearns/Stairns. It seems there are three different theories all using different source material that all sounds right. But which source, if any, is correct?

Additional information: My elder cousin just matched as 4th cousins (don't know how far removed if at all) with a living descendent of a William Wyatt b. 1750 England who married an Elizabeth May. They had a son William Wyatt b. 1787 in England who migrated to the US first to NY then to IL with wife Martha Messer and son Henry Wyatt b 1819 Buckinghamshire, Eng d 1887 Henderson IL. William Sr above had a second son John Wyatt b unk married Nancy Ayers children John, George, Mary Ann plus 2-3 more unk.

My elder cousin also matched as 5th cousins to the living descendents of a Susannah Wyatt b 1721 VA who married Thomas Collins as well as 5th cousins with an Elizabeth Wyatt b 1766-1775 VA who married Zachariah Groom. Elizabeth Wyatt daughter of a Peter Wyatt b 1735 according to her marriage doc.

Do any descendents of any of these Wyatt's have anything to add?
