My grandfather was John Reese Wyans b.1897 probably in Defiance Co, Ohio. He changed his name from Addis Merle Wyans between the 1910 and 1920 Ohio census. He married Edna LaVera Rorhbaugh ca 1929 and moved to Fort Wayne, Allen Co, IN. His parents were Benjamin Louis Wyans and Charity Ellen Sheets. We can't find any record of where John or Benjamin Wyans were born. Does ANYONE know of any Wyans' out there? Please contact me here or by email. Nancy

Nancy,

I came across your posting while searching for information on my Grandfather Lyle Wyans d. 1965. I have not confirmed yet but Benjamin Wyans might have been his (Lyle's father). I will do some checking.

Have fun in your search!

Hi Lori, I am Nancy Bowser's mother,Pat. Your dad,Curtis, and I are cousins.Nancy and I have been researching the Wyans family for about a year, and it is heavy going. I do have fairly complete information on Uncle Lyle's generation. I am the only child of his older brother,John Reese Wyans(Jack). I have some information on the preceeding generation (Benjamin Lewis and Charity Ellen Sheets Wyans). However, there are two other cousins in Ohio doing research.Dorothy Boyd has everything that I have, as I recently updated her files. She is in Rawson,OH. The other cousin is Virginia Baker. She is in Greensprings,OH.We have two more generations of Sheets, and are currently hunting the graves of Benjamins parents, who I THINK are in Lima vacinity. I have photos of most of grave markers and considerable documentation on Lyle's generation. Would be happy to share if you want to get in touch with me. Happy holidays! Pat Bowser

Hi, I checked with my father about Benjamin. Benjamin was my father's uncle, Lyle's brother. It would be very interesting to see your research. I have not researched much lately. A few years ago (several actually) I attempted to write names on the back side of old family photos that my grandmother has. (She is Elizabeth-Lyle's wife). Let me know how I can facilitate the sharing of your information. Thanks again, Lori Hagenmaier

I just got Family Tree Maker and will eventually have every detail and documentation on it, and can mail it to you as I get it finished. I am VERY interested in family pictures, as few exist. Is Your Grandmother able to talk with you? Contact me soon. Pat Wyans Bowser
