I also am researching Hinderk Wubben, born 7 April 1836 and died in Steamboat Rock, Iowa in 1907. This would have been my great-great grandfather. I have no more information than this, but I do have a picture of him, along with his daughter Hilke and son-in-law Harm Tjarks Meyer(my great grandparents) and their daughter, Ella, plus two others identified only as "great aunt" and "great uncle". I will let you know if I learn anything more.
thanks

I have no idea what Hinderk Wubben's wife's name was they did have children or at least my Great-Great Grandmother (Helen Wubben Meyer). I would love to hear more from you. I would very much be interested in his wife's side of the family. The pictures sounds interesting also.

I am researching the Wubben family. I am from central IL but I do not know where the family settled when they immigrated. N. IL or IA/WI area I strongly believe. I have notes on a Hilke(a) Wubben. I don't remember a Meyers. Is that her married name. I have a Harm Wubben also. Any notes to make connections to people or regions would be much appreciated.

The Wubben that I'm related to I think emigrated to Northeran Iowa (Buffalo Center, Iowa). There are alot of Wubben's in the cemetary there I noticed. I haven't been to steamboat rock yet, which is where Hinderk Wubben is buried. Was the Wubben surname orignated from Rijsum, Germany?

I unfortunately cannot help you out with that, how ever I can tell you I am a 3rd generation Wubben from Holland. I was born in Canada but my grandparents moved here shortly after world war II. They might know more about this hinderk wubben. I can tell you the name is north German in origin.....not so proud of that. But I can tell you there are wubbens in ontario, Canada and California in the united states as well as south America, Australia all over Europe and far east Asia. Oh and one family I know of in south Africa. Sorry I can't help you anymore. Also do you know anymore about him?
