Wroblewski in Illinois and Wisconsin

Looking for more information on my Wroblewski relatives in Illinois and Wisconsin. Joseph & Frances Wroblewski came from Poland around 1890 and settled in Chicago. They had 9 children, some came over with them, the older children we believe came over at different times. Some of the children settled in Chicago, and some in Wisconsin, in the towns of Milwaukee and Cudahy. There children's names were:
John, Joseph, Stanley, Anthony (lived in Cudahy), Frank, Igantious, Mary, and Anna.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I am looking for more information on my great grand uncle Ignatious Wroblewski and his family in Chicago. He was born in Poland (Posen?) around 1878 and came here with his parents Joseph and Frances around 1891. I know he was living with his parents and two of his siblings (Mary and Anna) in 1900, but I don't know what happened to him after that. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. I'm not a paid member of ancestry.com, but the reason I'm posting this is because of your Muchiusky Sternesky2 Personal Family Tree in which you include James Edward Mostyn, born 1944 in PA. The Mostyn family that I'm connected with is James Mostyn, born circa 1842 in Ireland and his wife Mary. Their son William Mostyn, born March, 1873 in Pa., married to Lovina in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, PA. Their daughter Catherine Mostyn (Feb. 3, 1897--June 15, 1919), wife of James A. Hartland. I'd like to exchange Mostyn family information. Could you e-mail me at bettycarolyn@hotmail.com?
Emil and Casimir LOCKOWITZ were admitted to St. Vincent's Orphanage, Philadelphia, PA in 1885.
When Casimir turned 6 he was transferred to St. John's. At age 9 he was given to Alice ADAMS of Odessa, Delaware; he was returned two years later. He was then given to Frank KELSH, a farmer from Pecke Eye, Salem, New Jersey.
No further information on Emil; I assume he was adopted.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I read some of the replys, they are very funny and uninformative. The Surname Wroblewski is dirived from the polish word Wrubel. That word translated to english would mean sparrow. Basically the small birds that you see in a park. Not a pigeon but "just a small bird". I love how everyone interpets it as "land of the sparrow" or "sparrow village". I hope this explains something for you in your search. You will also see dirivatives of Wroblewski, spelled as Wrublewski Wrobel.. etc.

And it may be forever! But whether we live or whether we die (For the end is past our knowing) Here’s our frank hearts and the open sky, Be a fair or an ill wind blowing! Here’s Luck Dad! In the teeth of all winds blowing.” R. Rovey Alexander F. “Junior” Wroblewski,
would reach the Crossroads on October 24, 2009
with an ill wind blowing while under the care of the Palliative Services of the Veteran’s Administration, Erie, Pa. He has now joined that pretty girl, his “Dolly”, in that great void known as eternity, where there is only peace and all good. He was born in French Creek, N.Y. on 8 January, 1923, the son of the late Alexander and Wanda Niedzwecki Wroblewski.
He would live the entirety of his life in French Creek, N.Y.,
save during WW II. The 496th had been readied to participate in the planned assault on Japan. Alex owned and operated a dairy farm, “Thornfield” with his late wife, “Dolly” and son John for more than 50 years. In his later years, he and his son John would form a partnership cutting timber and “logging” it as independents. Surviving is his only son; John A. Wroblewski, and three daughters; Kathleen and Alexandra Wroblewski, and Rebecca DiFrangia, son-in-law; Aurelio F. DiFrangia; and his only grandson; Alessandro A. DiFrangia;
two brothers; Raymond (Helen) Wroblewski
and Leonard (Rita) Wroblewski ;
and one sister; Luci Colli; brother-in-law; Paul Smelik as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise “Dolly” Wroblewski,
by a brother; John Edmund Wroblewski,
and three sisters; Wanda Ruth Spencer,
Adella Cecelia Padavoni;
and Martha Smelik.
Family and friends may call at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 8728 E. Main St. Clymer, New York, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a Memorial Visitation. All are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Hope RC Church (St. Matthias), French Creek, NY. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Christ Our Hope RC Church (St. Matthias) or the Palliative Care Services of the Veterans Administration, Erie, Pa. in his honor. Special Note: Gladiator, you had to die for it was foretold, know it was an honor to have stood beside you in battle. You have won the mantel of freedom; rest well. Always strength and honor. Good Luck Dad! Sign the guestbook at www.GoErie.com/obits.
Published in the Erie Times-News on October 28, 2009 ,

Christ Our Hope RC Church (St. Matthias),"
I am looking for information/clarification on this person ...a current World Connect Tree sows him with 9 children although his Obit claims only 4 ... was there more than one Wawrzniec Wroblewski in 1899 and who is who ....For Your information ....
Jim Piechorowski, Elkhart, Indiana

South Bend Weekly Times, April 18 1899

Thought To Be Suicide

Wawrzniec Wroblewski Dies Under Very Peculiar Circumstances

Friday about 6 p.m. Officers Stickley and Brzesynski found a man lying unconscious on the sidewalk at the corner of Chapin Street and Prarie Avenue. He was brought to the station and found to be Wawrzniec Wroblewski, of 831 South Arnold. Dr. R B Stines was called and for a time the man seemed to get better. He was taken to Epworth Hospital at 1:35 and died about 2:00 without regaining consciousness.
Wroblewski frothed at the mouth and gave other evidence that lead Dr. Stine and Coroner Dugdale to believe that he had taken poison, having been driven to desperation by a long continued illness. Wroblewski wandered away from home Friday morning and his family was anxiously awaiting his return. A wife and four children survive him. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm at St Casimir Catholic Church.

Re: Wroblewski - Posnan, Chicago, Detroit (Kwiatkowski listed)

Marsha,

Wondering if you have any info that may lead to a possible connection. I am not real familiar with the different areas of Poland yet, but I am very interested in any possible connections to the Kwiatkowski name from Poland.

I have a Lawrence Kwiatkowski married to Frances Kalinowski from the area of Przybyslaw/Turzany/Parchanie/Inowroclaw.

Lawrence and Frances had a daughter Josephine born in Przybyslaw I am guessing @ 1870, so Lawrence would be born @ 1850....all guess work on the dates. However, Josephine did marry 2nd husband Joseph Szczupak in Rochester NY 20 January 1908. He emigrated to US in MAy 1907 w/first wife and children, so Joseph and Josephine could have known each other/been from same area. Josephine died 12 March 1946 in Rochester.

Other names from the same area are Kaliska, Niewiadowski, Burmistrzak, Paprocki, Borowicz, Adamski, Zwierzykowska, Karminska, Kruszynski and Ulanowski.

Turzany is a small community @ 4 km west of Parchanie, and Parchanie is @ 8 km east of Inowroclaw. All in the Posen/Poznan area. Most of the families were married in or buried from St. Nicholas Church in Inowroclaw. At some point in history, these villages/towns may have been under Polish/German/Russian rule, but the families have always considered themselves Polish.

Let me know if you think there may be a connection.

Regards,
Maureen
