I'm not too sure on the popularity of the spelling of Wrenne in Ireland but I know that when my gg-grandfather left Ireland and settled in Canada his name was spelled in a variety of ways - Wren/Wrenn/Wrenne. It's hard for us to know what the actual original spelling was, we can only go by the documents we've found here and as I say, every variation imaginable is seen in the spelling of the name. Many of those who emigrated to Canada were unable to read or write so they were at the mercy of the person compiling the documents and probably didn't correct anyone on the spelling. There might be many original Wrenne members now using a different spelling in North America.

Regards,

Frankie McGraw-Nicol

Hi,

My name is Herbert Whren of Washington, DC. Do you suppose you know my grandmother and grandfather? Jesse Whren and Gladys Whren? They both moved from Sumter and Charleston South Carolina to DC. My grandfather passed away, but my grandmother is still alive. I hear her mention the exact same names that are listed in some of the postings. My grandmother knows who Sol and Doll is. I'm 37 years old now, but my Granny has been discussing family history since my siblings and I were in elementary school. It would be great to hear from you, except, your last post is years old. You may not be using this site anymore.
Yes,the Wrenn families are very tight lipped. My maiden name was Wrenn. I don't understand their being that way. I never heard anything about my G-grandfather from my grandpa at all. There was little said about him from my grandmother either.

I would guess that we are from the same set of Wrenns. My grandfather had a sister by the name of Rebecca I think her middle name was Leanne, I am not sure of that right now. I will get to my Wrenn file soon. I do have quite a list of the Wrenn who moved to TX. Some of them were Married and had their married name in TX.

I have a broken foot and cannot do much at getting to my files. I will get to those files as soon as I am able, that should be by the first of next week. If you want to write directly to me my e-mail address is kalicokitt@yahoo.com I am now in contact with several of the Wrenn cousins and that may help both of us.

I will look forward to hearing from you.

Dee

She was the Mother of my Grandfather, J T Blakey also known as "Babe."

The only think I know about her is that she was known as "Beck" and was not all that pleasant to her grandchildren.

Hi
My name is Jeremiah Patrick Wrenn. My father was Thomas Patrick Wrenn (born in NZ), his father was Jeremiah Wrenn (my grandfather), born 1881, baptised at Abbeyfeale, Newcastle, County Limmerick in 1881. He married Helen (also known as Ellen) Breen in Christchurch, NZ, in 1911.
My great grandfather was Thomas Wrenn. Thomas married Hanora Hartnett.
This means that Thomas and Hanora Wrenn must emigrated to NZ sometime between 1881 and 1911.
It looks like one possibility is my grandfather may well be a sibling to Thomas and Hanora's daughter, Hanora mentioned in this thread.
Can you tell me any other names or information of Thomas's children to see if there is a link here?

The test involves rubbing a specially treated cotton swab inside your mouth, and then you send it off in the mail.

In fact, the only painful part of the test is the cost, normally $200, but DNA Ancestry is offering a half-price test through September 30, 2008. With tax, this test comes to about $118. (I paid full price for our test, and I think it was worth every penny. You guys are getting a great deal for half the price!)

We've had three DNA matches so far, all linking to Nicholas Wren and Margaret Bell of Virginia, but really, we've got so many more Wrenn lines out there, wouldn't it be great to have a DNA sample from every single one?

These DNA tests will only test a tiny part of your DNA: the Y-chromosome, which is passed down from father to son. If you are a female Wrenn you cannot take the test. However, you can ask your brother, father, uncle, or other male Wrenn relative to take the test for you.

More details on this offer are here:
http://wrenkin.com/2008/07/25/y-chromosome-dna-test-50-off/

We must be related. I am searching the Wrenn family and this bunch has been really closed mouth about the family. We didn't go to see my dad's family much at all. I can remember only one that we visited and that was his Uncle William Henry (Will) Wrenn. That is the only one I remember at all.

I am in the same position as you, there is no one left to ask.

Ok here goes
Albert Ford is my mothers first husband and very possibly may father. He is the father of my eldest sister and brotherSadly the brother died whenhe was only four hours old. I was borught up by my mother and her second husbaned william Farady and I have a younger sister from that marrage. I have an unusaul birth certificate as t states that I was registerd in the 19060s when clearly I was born in 1946 !!

However we do know why this happened and it has never soured any relationship between the three sisters or my mothers two husbands!!!
Albert is improving and hoping to be home again in the next week. he lives very close to my eldest sister and he and I have a very good relationship. He tells me that his mother, died when he was eight and then his father remarried...it is the wrong time to ask him but when he is home I will try to do so.
I will also ask mysister to contact the one child I know who is alive who is the child of said Weible.

and they say that todays youngsters lead complicated lives!!!!

My tree is on Genes reunited so not sure how to openitto you. If you send me a request through Genes Reunited I would be delighted to make it available

Happy New Year

Dear old Albert was admitted to hospital yesterday so we are all keeping our fingers crossed for him.He enjoyed his 94th birthday the day before.
I wonder if you can help me once again? Frederick Robert Wrenn married twice, his second wife was Lydia Weeble. We are not sure of the spelling of the surname. Albert Ford recalls his mother dying when he was about 8 years old.
Lydia brought several children with her into this marriage and I met one of them, Etty, when I was in my late teens and early twenties.
I don't know if you use Genes Reunited but my tree is on there and I would be pleased to make it availbale to you if it would help.

Good luck with your own research and I look forward to hearing from you.
It is a bright sunny but cool day here in the part of Spain I live, hope you are having similar weather

Bridget

Hello Bridget

Cannot tell whether or not you have received email or not so:

found this lot - Fred's brother was Enos NOT Ernest - named after his dad who, it would seem, lived apart from his wife & obviously took "little trips" back & forth between his mum & his wife !! (nice life eh!! ha ha ha)

You will see that the surname WRENN is also registered/censused as WREN - probably Wren is the original & the extra n has been added somewhere along the line.

The name "Etty" is obviously a nickname - Henrietta ??? - I have looked through all the Wren/n births for Hertfordshire from 1902 to 1910 & cannot find anything that may match - Also, if this lady was bc1905 then she is before Percy etc and dads union with Elizabeth - maybe, no marriage - would need more info on this

The only birth I can find for a Mabel is in Ware in 1906 - Mabel Lillian

I have searched the images from 1920 to 1925 for a death for Elizabeth but, there is nothing to pinpoint her - either in age (rough) or Herts

There is - with the child Mabel in mind, a marriage for a Elizabeth Mabel Pratt - Mar Q 1910 in Hertford - 3a - 1031 but, there is no partner shown nor, on the index is there a Fred so......

If you get one or two of these certificates (online at £7 each inclusive) - you may well glean some extra info that will help me pinpoint mum & other "wife"

Also looks like there were other children born to Fred & Elizabeth (see below)

****************************************************
Births
Jun Q 1909
Percy Robert Wrenn
Reg in Hertford
Volume 3a
Page 829
James Wrenn married Patsy Turbeville (Martha)both born in VA. Patsy's father was William and his father was John. William Turbeville died in Robertson County, Tennessee. I think both families were there for a time then some moved to AL then MS where James Wrenn died Jul 2, 1858 in Tillitobia (not sure about Turbevilles but the Gattis that James daughter marries into moved in the same pattern from TN to AL to MS) James and Patsy's children were:
Francis George 1810--
Martha Jane--(she was married twice but can't find the info on her first husband right now--two children by him) She then married Samuel Gattis, Jr (she was his second wife and he had 9 children by the first wife--she died about 1850 and he only lived till 1857 leaving Martha with 3 children of their own and 5 of his first wife's children under 17)
William who married Induana Cocke
John

Martha Augusta 1855-1880--married John Korr
Ella F. 1857-1919--she married a Smith and as usual since my FamilyTreemaker scattered my spouses and children I can't find him or the children. That's all they had time to have since Samuel died in 1857.
