Capt. James Wrenn served in the Revolutionary War. He was born in Stafford County, VA in the early 1700s to James Wren and Catherine Brent. He was an architect and builder especially colonial churches in Fairfax County. He also designed and built the Fairfax County, VA courthouse in 1800.
I have not researched the Wrenns but I do know that they descend from John Wrenn and Ann Turner of Westmoreland County, VA. There is a good genealogy of the Wrenns in a book entitled, "Falls Church, Fence and Fireside" that is now out of print but available in some libraries. This takes the
family back to the famous English Architect Sir Christoper Wren

The best place to look for that book is in a genealogical library such as DAR, NGS, Fairfax County's VA Room, LLoyd House in Alexandria, VA, Library of Virginia, etc.

I am researchning my family tree also and I show that James Wrenn and Mary Jackson had a son Henry Wrenn who fought with the 45th Regiment of NC Troops. He enlisted in 1862 at the age of 39.

That would make Henry's birthdate around 1823. James would have to be well before 1819.

Tim, according to my information, James Wrenn's and Mary Jackson's son, Henry Wrenn, was born in 1842. If he enlisted in 1862, that would make him about 19 or 20, not 39. Do you have any information on his exact date of birth, place, etc.? You might check my web site for the information I have and let me know where we differ. http://genealogy.east.freeservers.com

I have copies of Henry Wrenn's military records on the way at this time. In the Confederate records it shows his enlistment age as 39.

Other information may show up in the records. I will let you know what they contain.

Thanks

Barnes Noble has the book for about $40. Does anyone have a copy that wouldn't mind glancing through and telling me if the descendents thereof ended up in Person County, NC? My grandmother's father told her we were descended from Sir Wren, but he was also a notorious liar.
