Capt. James
Wrenn served in the Revolutionary War. He was born in
Stafford County, VA in the early 1700s to James
Wren and Catherine Brent. He was an architect and builder especially colonial churches in
Fairfax County. He also designed and built the
Fairfax County, VA courthouse in 1800.
I have not researched the Wrenns but I do know that they descend from John
Wrenn and Ann
Turner of
Westmoreland County, VA. There is a good genealogy of the Wrenns in a book entitled, "
Falls Church, Fence and Fireside" that is now out of print but available in some libraries. This takes the
family back to the famous
English Architect Sir Christoper
Wren
