I haven't posted for some time but am still researching my Wraith family tree. My branch started in Hollingbourne, Kent, late 18th century then dispersed. My ancestor William Wraith moved to Taunton around 1830, married Ann Icely of Woolwich there in 1834, fathered 3 children, then moved to Wakefield around 1840. There were other Wraith families in Wakefield already and elsewhere in Yorkshire, but I have not found any connection. William's son, William Henry Wraith left Wakefield around 1860 and ended up in Derby, founding the branch that I come from. As far as I am aware there is no connection with the Wraiths of Durham/South Shields. I have been in contact with Ed Wraith who is very knowledgeable on them. I believe they originally came from Kent too. Anybody interested in sharing information, please let me know. Other important names in my tree are Icely, Isley, Dimmock, Clark(e), Commons, Nester, Orgill, Colville, Colwell, Hopla
Best Wishes
David Wraith
