Wragg Swamp in Mobile AL was named for George Wragg, a native of Manchester, England who was in Mobile by 1840. He reportedly established a series of water driven mills in the marshy lands west of Mobile and the area was dubbed "Wragg Swamp." He is last listed in the 1869 Mobile City Directory and was in the wholesale grocery business at 61 N. Water Street, Mobile.
While there are two Wragg family lots within Mobile's Magnolia Cemetery, there is no record of his burial there. He may be in an unmarked grave.
