However, if you can reach dhowland, my cousin, on this Worthey family message board, she might know more about Harry Wesley Worthey and his brothers and sisters (if he had any). Good luck with your research. If we are related, I would like to hear more from you.

Yes, I have that information. In fact Ellen's mother was Eliza Dyson who married a Haslem and they had a son, Enoch, before her husband died and she married Marson Holbrook. And Marson had another family before he and Eliza married. You can reach me at cfhartsfield@bellsouth.net. I will send you an invitation to my Wortheys of SW Arkansas line on Ancestry.com if I can get your e-mail address. I am a Greatgrandson of William Harrison Worthey thru Dewey Worthey.
Not sure if you ever found anything on Ellen Holbrook but she was born Sept. 18th, 1846 and was the daughter of Morrison Holbrook and Eliza Huslem. Her families info goes back into the 1600's maybe later on a website called An Arkansas Connection. Most Wortheys are on there as well but the death dates of Herbert, Francis and and his sisters Melba and Mary are incorrect. It says 1941 but it is 1949. Not sure if you already have all of this info.

Patricia,
I can place Martha Bridges in my family tree. I have some interesting information about her ancestors. Her parents are Edmund and Maria Bradshaw Bridges as you know. Edmund came to Illinois with six brothers and a sister, probably about 1830. Their parents were Matthew Bridges and Mary Rowe of Rockingham County, VA. Maria Bradshaw was from Stafford County, VA. If you want to see what I have, let me know and I will send it to your email. Karen

Amber:

The closest match I have on the Worthey family tree is a William Worthey born Jan. 1, 1837 in Coshocton Co, Ohio, married Sept. 15, 1854 in Jasper County, IL, died April 1, 1923 in Jasper County, IL. We have no spouse name and no info on whether they had any children. His parents were James Francis Worthey and Charlotte Oder.

I'm not sure if any of this has been verified. I think one of my brothers-in-law pieced it together from family tree(s) he found on the internet, adding in what my father-in-law Herschel Ray Worthey, Jr. told him about the family.

I asked my wife Lisa Worthey and her sister Jill, who happens to be visiting this weekend, if they recognized the names you posted but unfortunately they don't.

But, does this sound like a match?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi, I am a Worthey from Texas. I have a great grandfather named William Harrison Worthey. His birthday was 05/12/1849 and was married to Dewilda Jackson Gregory on 10/08/1923. If this is Enoch Wortheys father, I may have some info on another brother, James H. Worthey. If this is the same person let me know if you have any info on W. H. Worthey's Parents, Place of Birth. Thank You.

Worthy.
I do not know if we are talking about the same Nettie Worthy, but if we are, I have her family information and would be happy to send it to you.
Re: Looking For History on Emma Worthey

Actually the childrens' names were Lillian, Zelma, Lavoyd, Bain's name was Frank Bain, Odie, Minnie, Vollie (my father), Claud Jr. who passed away last year, and Dorothy. My Dad Vollie Ross passed away in 1986. Aunt Lill, Aunt Zelma, Aunt Minnie and Uncle Bain passed away a long time ago. Aunt Dorothy, who was the youngest died a few years back. I have all that information, what I am looking for is information on Emma Worthey's parents. On one of the census she is listed as Indian and I wanted to know what tribe she was affiliated with. My mother is listed as full-blood Creek Indian on the Dawes Roll. She passed away two years ago at the age of 102. So we must be related. Emma was my Grandmother. The way the names are spelled on the Census are totally wrong. We have another cousin who I have been communicating with in TX trying to tie this family altogether. You can email me at mshakoor@frontier.com.

William Harrison Worthey is also my great-grandfather. His youngest son, Henry Jackson Worthey was my grandfather. I have run into several dead ends while searching for William's parents. My understanding is that the courthouse in Lumpkin, Georgia, where William was born, burned down, destroying all of the records. Would love to hear from you if you have found any additional information.

Jeannie Hilton McWilliams

No, I'm sorry, this is not Enoch's father. My William Harrison Worthey was born in 1871 somewhere around Natchez, MS. My William Harrison married a woman named Idella Roberts in Hempstead Co., AR. It is interesting to find another William Harrison Worthey though. Was he from Mississippi before he moved to Texas? There are so many questions to be asked and so little to support my assumptions and stories that have been told to me and to others. Let me get all my information together and I will contact you later.

Curtis Hartsfield

Enoch Worthry was Charles Enoch Worthey. He was the first child of William Harrison Worthey, who moved with his nother, Ellen Holbrook Harrington, to Hempstead Co, AR from Mississippi about 1895. Enoch and his wife, Merti Sutton, moved to Oklahoma sometime after 1910 and moved back to Hempstead Co. before the 1830 census. Dewey was his younger brother and my grandfather. Contact me at cfhartsfield@bellsouth.net and I will help you. I have the family line on ancestry.com as the Worthey tree.

William Harrison Worthey was born in 1871 in Franklin Co., MS. I have only recently come to be aware of another man with that same name in Texas who was born in GA. I don't know if they are related, but it seems more than coincidental that would be the case. I have no father for my William Harrison, but his mother was call "Ma" Harrington when she moved him with her to Hempstead Co., AR in about 1900+. Her maiden name was Ellen D. Holbrook of Franklin Co., MS. He told his oldest son that he was a bastard. I have never been able to find an Ellen Harrington in any census reports before 1910.
