I hope someone may be able to help. My Woodheads are from Whitwood
Mere,Castleford.
The family belongs to my father-in-law, one Ernest Fenton Woodhead, who passed away 6 month's ago.
Ernest Fenton, born in Castleford on the 01/12/1921, son of
William Woodhead (born 1895) and Sarah North (born 13/02/1898).
Sarah's parents were called Edmund North and Emily Roberts (or Rhodes) they
lived at
8 Philips Street, Whitwood Mere, Castleford, at time of Sarah's birth.
Sarah died on the 18/04/1966 at 95 Woodview Avenue, Castleford,aged 68.
It is known that Edmund and Emily were married on the 25/12/1878 at St
Paul's, Alverthorpe.
On the Marriage certificate, Edmunds father is a James Taylor?(Inn Keeper)
and Sarah's father is Joseph Roberts (Manager of Coal Pit - Alverthorpe?).
William and Sarah married on the 04/12/1920 at the Memorial Church, Whitwood
Mere,Castleford.
William was a Plasterer, his father Richard was Deceased.
They were living at 109 Leeds Road, Castleford.
William was the son of Richard Woodhead and Lydia Beighton (or Beeton).
If anyone can help with further information about this family and the area
in which they lived at the time, it would very helpful, thank you.
