Brake was or is the name of a town in northern Germany. It is also the name of a town in N.C. near Rocky Mount and the name of a town in W.V. near Petersburg. I hope this helps. They were towns started by the Brake family in the app. 1700's and there is not much left. The town in N.C. still has roads named Brake.
