In researching my father's line, I was contacted by a person in England who was also searching for a Lotte Wobser. All he had was that she was born on 24th January 1911, married _____Jaruslawski, was sent to Auschwitz where she died in 1944. Her husband's name is not known. I believe the gentlemen from England said he had found records (which I have been unable to access) stating that she had been deported from Bielefeld to Auschwitz. Since Wobser is an unusual name, as is Jaruslawski (according to my correspondent) I wonder if there is a link here. Any info would be appreciated. Marlene

I ran into Lotte Wobser also. She was from Holland and was Jewish and died in a German camp. I could find no connection to our line.

Lotte Wobser was born in Pr. Holland, East Prussia. She was not Jewish, but married a Jewish person. The one thing you got right was that she died at Auschwitz.

Marlene,
Please contact me. Lotte Wobser was my aunt, my father's sister. My father is still alive. I would really like to talk with you and any other possible relations. Joan

Dear Jean, I am so excited that I have finally received an answer, after 4 years of looking. My original search was for the home of my grandfather, Otto John Wobser, bn Nov. 1872 somewhere in Germany. Unfortunately, he seldom talked of the "old country", since we were then in the midst of WW11. I do remember Stolp or Stup. He came to US in 1890 or 1891 on the Weimar. That's where the trail goes cold.
I chanced on the Lotte Wobser connection when a professor in Bielefeld saw my inquiry and answered that Lotte Wobser Juraslawski was born 24/1/11 in Pr. Holand/Ostpreussen. She was a Technische Lehrerin/Wirtschaftsleiterin des Lagers Schlosshofstr. 73a (seit 1941). Her house was in Bielefeld from 5/9/39 till 28/6/43. She married Ernst Jaruslawski 27/8/40.
Ernst was born 25/6/95 in Marienburg/Westpreussen. He was Volljude (full Jew) and confessed to be Jewish, as did Lotte. Ernst was a Druggist by profession der Arbeitseinsatzstelle (Umschulungslager) Schlosshofstr. 73a was their house in Bielefeld from 5/9/9 till 8/1/42.
I know from Professor Fritz Neubauer at the U. of Bilefeld that Ernst died while serving as the head of a prison camp in Bielfeld and Lotte was put in his place until she was deported to Theresienstadt and from there to Auschwitz. We know she was still alive in 1943, but was murdered before 1945.
I'm sorry if this is bringing back sad memories. I know it did when I first heard it from Prof. Neubauer. I have much moreto share with you if you desire. The professor was kind enough to take pictures of the Bielefeld train station they left from and the memorial plaque dedicated to the victims.
Let me say that I was enormously excited to finally hear from a Wobser who knew who I was talking about. Please continue our correspondence and sharing.
Regards,
Marla

Marla, My father and I are so happy to hear from you!
From my father:
"My grandfather (Albert Wobser) legally adopted my father (Ludwig Wobser) when he was a baby in 1881 shortly after he was born. Albert Wobser lived in Friedeberg. Ludwig married Alice Helft and they had four children. One of those children was Lotte. Lotte was one of my sisters. In reality Ludwig and Albert Wobser (father and son) were not blood relatives."

We would be very interested in learning more about your connection and your stories. Do you have connections to Albert Wobser? We would be interested in seeing pictures of Lotte. We have pictures of Albert and Lotte if you would be intersted in these.

Where do you live? My father lives in Arizona and I live in Iowa.
We look forward to hearing from you.
