Surnames: Wobick Spielberg Zimmermann Oestreich Oelke
I am researching this name for a friend. What I have so far is, a William Frederick Wobick born in Germany, marrying an Elisa Louise Spielberg born in Germany, emmigrating from Germany to The US in 1883 or 1886 and then their family forward. If you have any information you'd like to share or think I may have more for you, please contact me. Thank-you, John

I do not have a solid copy of my ancestry or family tree, but I do know that the Wobick side of my family is German and although I live in Canada, I do know that there are a lot of Wobick's in the US who I'm related to or are decendants of my relatives. I have heard that there is an Austrian connection (Wobick is of Austrian origin, my relatives moved from Austria to Germany before the war, etc.) I do not know what's accurate as, I'm sure you know, there is very little Wobick geneology on the net and can only go upon heresay and stories from various relatives, all who may have gotten mixed up with other stories. I would however be happy to look into whether there is any known relatives by the name of William or Elisa; William sounds familiar but it's also a common name.

Czechoslovakian, really? I was mistaken in my previous post. I'm not sure that Wobick orignated from German/Austrian, however my ancestors were from Germany/Austria. It could have originated anywhere and I'm unable to find a website that specifies an origin of the family name. I'm unfamiliar with anyone of the name Ralph Wobick, but I'll have to do more research. My uncle has a Wobick website/family tree, but I don't recall the address. If you have any other sites that may contain useful information, please pass it along. Even if there's no relation, any information is better than none. Thanks.

One thing I forgot to mention: I've had numerous people ask me whether I'm Russian or Ukrainian (which I am, on my mother's side) but based on my last name. It would therefore make sense if Wobick was Czechoslovakian.
