Hello, just found out about this page, perhaps I can find someone related!
My grandfather emigrated from Ruda, Poland to Argentina in 1926 and moved to Uruguay in 1928 until his death in 1958. He had a son (my dad) and a daughter (my aunt). Ours is the only Wlasiuk family in Uruguay - just 7 people carry it. I currently live in Valencia, Spain.
Would be nice to know some more about the origin of the name .....is it of Ukrainian origin?

I do believe that it's an Ukrainian origin. I was born in Paraguay but now I live in the United States (Virginia). I talked to my father whose name is also Juan and he told me that he's mother and father (my grandparents) came from the Ukrain. I don't know the exact year that my grandparents moved to Paraguay but my father was also born there in the late 40s. I hope that this helps you out.

Hi Juan, My family is from the Ukraine and the whole family now lives in the U.S. They were all born here except mom and dad and I was born in Germany after WWII. Most of my brothers and one sister live in California and one in Michigan, one left in Ohio where mom and dad live and one sister who lives in Florida. Please let me know about your family.

My parents-in-law, Wlasiuk, were born in Minsk and Pinsk, respectively, and emmigrated to Paraguay in 1933, ultimately coming th the USA in the late '70's. The name 'Wlasiuk' is indeed of Ukrainian origin. There are numerous "Wlasiuks" in South and North America, being that Wlasiuk is a rather common name in Eastern Europe, much like Smith or Jones in the USA. Hope this is helpful to your search.
