I have a Gottlieb Wizemann, born Sept. 24, 1875, from Lutesbury, At. Gallens, Switzerland who emigrated to US in Sept. 1897. His mother was Marie Magdalena Engel and he was married to Bridget Hennessey around 1902. he dies June 25, 1920 in Bronx, NY and is buried with his wife at the 3rd Cavalry Cemetary, Corona, Long Island, NY. Any relation or do you have any clues to any links for me? Gottlieb's father was also named Gottlieb.

Matthew,
Interested in hearing about your U.S. Wizemanns. There seem to be 2 or 3 specific groups that settled in various parts of the U.S. My great-grandfather was Alexander Wizemann, b. 1858 in Germany (somewhere around Baden Baden?). Believe he emigrated to U.S. in 1868. Married Julia Milde in 1880's. Around 1900 moved his family from Philadelphia to Germania, Potter Co., Pennsylvania (north central Pa.), raised his 10 children there. Some children ended up in upstate New York area (around Rochester).

I have further information on Alexander and Julia's descendants, but don't know much about his origins. Believe his father's name was Otto.

In 1910 census, another Wizemann listed in Penn.: Christ Wizemann, in Williamsport (Lycoming Co.). Only a few counties away from Alexander, but don't know if they were connected or immigrated together.

Would like to hear details about your Gottlieb Wizemann and when he came to U.S. Happy to trade what information I have with you. Email: richardlewis@earthlink.net. Thanks--Richard Lewis

Mark,

My lineage of Wizemann descends from a small hamlet in Wurtemberg called Oberdigisheim. The first of my line to leave was Gottlieb Wizemann. He came to the US through Baltimore, but received homestead property in Callicoon, NY.

I have quite a bit of researchon the US side of things, but I need some more information from Germany. Perhaps we can assist each other.

My e-mail address is matthewwizeman@yahoo.com

Geographic origin??
Religious origin???
Any chance they settled in Wisconsin?

Magdelena Weisman was born about 1805...
She married a John (Johan Ott) in Germany
and they settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin...then
moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
They are buried in Calvary Cemetery
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

My GGG-grandfather was a doctor in south
eastern Wisconsin..strangely enough, in his
medical bags is an old circumcision board...from
about the 1850's...also, we have always wondered
why out grandmother used to use words that
sounded "yiddish" in origin???
Magdelena Wiesman/Weisman..etc..married
Johann OTT..to them was born at least one
son--George OTT who was born in
Neukirch, Bavaria (wherever that is)...
Any ideas appreciated...Thank you in advance,
Wiesman, Weisman, Weismann, Weissman, Weissmann
Weseman, Wesemann, Weisemann, Wiesmain,
Wiessmann, or Wissman, Wissmann, or Wiseman
Susan
apetta@netwurx.net
