OK, I've been reading this mess. board for a
very long time now-years. I think The Witner
line you all in Ohio are looking for in Pa.
stem from the family of Witner's from Bellheim,
Palatinate, Germany. A Reverand Johann George
Wittner-DOB-8/13/1735, sailed from Amsterdam
to the US on the ship "Catherine". Departure
was on 6/10/1766; arrived in NY on 9/10/1766.
Resided in Lancaster, Lehigh, and Berks Co.,Pa.
Occupation-Reformed UCC Minister. Married a
Johanna Christine Salome Goehr ,dau of Andrew
Goehr of Lancaster Co.,Pa. on 6/2/1767 at the
Cocalico Reformed Church in Ephrata, Lancaster
Co., Pa. Reverand Wittner died in 1794 in
Greenwich Township, Berks Co., Pa. They had six
children, the 4th being a George Theobald-DOB-
3/15/1770 Relocated, and died in Portage,
Coventry Township, Summit County,Ohio. He
married a Mary Ann Gregor (Gregory) and they
had eight children. This family name spelling
has three differnet variations from the original
of Wittner to that of Witner to Whitner-this
last spelling adopted by only one family group.
I am one of those Witner's in Northeastern Pa who cannot make a direct
connection to this line-yet, perhaps one day
I will. In the meantime I think this will help
you guys out alot. I have more info this
particular line if you would like it.
