I have a number of letters written to my g-grandfather who had emigrated to the US in 1892 from his brother who had remained in N. Ireland. These letters were written toward the end of their lives, after a separation of many years. Consequently they are filled with names of people they had both known as young men. The author of the letters lived in Alla, near the villiage of Claudy, Co. Derry, N. Ireland - near the farm where the two had grown up.
A William Witherow is referenced in two of the letters as follows:
In letter dated 1/13/1939-
"William Witherow of Alla is In hospital at present his family are all married."
In letter dated 11/10/1941-
George Hopkin is dead and his daughter married a son of old William Witherow."
I don't have any other information on these people, but am posting it in the hope it may help others.
(I had noted the name Witherow as one of my great-aunts was married in the US to Lester Stuart Witherow 1892-1941 of Maryland and Pennsylvania.)
