Know your post is from 2000, but was hoping you were still active.
I would be very interested in the birthdays of Eli and Mattie's kids. Think I am on the correct line. Arthur, Jay, Nellie, Virgie, Tommy, Vard, Fannie, Oral, John and Mary. Are these the correct children? Mother is Mattie Broom?

Eli is the brother to Thomas Gordon Wisinger, Thomas's son Gordon Thomas is my husbands granddad.

I can provide as much information as you would like. Mary Lee Ewing was the daughter of Edd Bradley and Fannie Mae Ewing Belcher. Mary Lee was born in Smackover, AR. She was also married multiple times. She was quite a "colorful" character and I would be more than happy to share some stories if you contact me via email @ tjaystried@hotmail.com
She and John did have children together. Margie Lee Wisinger Ross was my grandmother. SHe had two children, Kenneth Bratton b. 1947 and my mom, Brenda Bratton, 1952. Mary Lee and the Ewings and Belchers moved to Red River COunty, Tx, where they all died. Mary Lee died in 1988 in BOgata, Texas (Red River County). I am new to the Wisinger research and would love to know what you know. I have some good pictures of John Wisinger but not that many.

I'd be interested in learning more about your grandmother Margie - I had her last name incorrect in my database as Ewins. I assume she and John Wharton Wissinger did not have children since she was his third wife. Also, you do have any information about John? I have 10 children with 3 wives and that he died in Smackover, Arkansas.

We have started a Wisinger Family and Surname DNA Project to

1. Help researchers on common or related families work together to find their common heritage (See our Patriarch Page)

2. Identify the DNA of the immigrant ancestor families and and compile them and their lost branches into separate families through DNA matches (See our DNA Recruitment Page)

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/weisinger/

If your family isn't listed, please give us the info to add them.
The Wisinger Patriarch page has been populated with the Patriarch information collected by Bob Wissinger over many years. All variants of the name are included in the one project. In summary (and so far):

We have 42 separate families listed by earliest ancestor

We have 18 researchers listed as contacts for their lines

We have two men signed up to participate in the DNA Project and are waiting for their results. We'll also be glad to answer on or off Board/List any questions about the DNA project.

Please check out your family and see if it is accurately portrayed and let us know if you wish to be listed as research contact for your family or branch.

Terry Barton and Bob Wissinger
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/weisinger/patriarchs...

If you are interested in posting a query about your Wisinger family, we ask you to post at Wissinger, as the variant spellings of our family are all apparently mixed together. Hopefully, the new Family Project and the focus of all researcher discussion on one site instead of 17 will restimulate communication and sharing..

Terry Barton and Bob Wissinger
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/weisinger/

'kay, thanks
that clarifies that for me and one of Daisy's granddaughters, whose dad was the James Wisinger born to Daisy after she and Wharton split(his father was Clifton Ritchey). He is Calvin's younger brother.
Thay'd planned a reunion for today, but Calvin's daughter-in-law died last week. She was the wife of his youngest son, Paul Terry. I don't know if you know: He had Jerry, Paul Terry, and Barbara, 3 children with Billie Marie Johnson, his first wife. No children with the second wife. James' daughter is going to get all the names and dates for me...sometimes it's like prying nails out of concrete, getting info from people who are unfamiliar with the project.
When myfamily.com gets back online, I'll add your email address to the site.

This man divorved
Daisy, but not before they had two sons,
James E. and Calvin Wisinger. Calvin lives
in Kansas if he's still alive. He's way past
retirement age. Horton/Wharton lived in the
Smackover, AR, area until he died.
Luck

I don't
have the dob or current address, but am
sure they grew to adulthood in the state
of Kansas.
goto Peveto surname board periodically, I
am hoping someone will add info; you can
find Daisy's parent's names etc. there. I
know she was born June 7, 1905, her sister,
Willa 'Willie' was born in 1907, and their
brother Joseph 'Jack' was born Nov. 29, 1912
and died Sept. 7, 1999. Daisy and Willie
are buried at Crossroads Cemetery, at Cross
roads Baptist Church, about 6 miles north of
Smackover, Arkansas, as are their parents,
uncles, cousins, Jacksons mostly.
I plan to put vintage photos on site(Jo's
Family)on ancestry.com.
I have one of Calvin in his Army uniform
somewhere in boxes and bags my dad left.

Wow!! I didn't know anyone in Daddy's family other than myself and my children surfed. I can't remember what request I put in for info. I sent invitations to a family site, to two James Wisingers in Louann, AR, but got no reply.
Wouldja tell me about being 'Uncle Jack's buttercup'? I was sure he lost contact with 'the family' at least 15 years ago.
I know the last time we saw Aunt Daisy, my daughter was a baby, and she's 13 now. The last time we saw you, you were about 15.
I surely thought Aunt Daisy was born on June 7, 'cause I thought she told me she was, but whatever. We know where Aunt Willie is buried. Her name was originally 'Willa', but it got anglicized just like Sumac Couvert, the original name of Smackover, ya know...
I'm going to buy a piece of Peveto Beach in LA, or Peveto, TX, some decade and place Daddy's ashes there. Daddy always said we were the last of the Pevetos, but since I've been on the 'Net looking, I've met some cousins. (online only)

Your grandfather Tommie came from a large family of 10 (or possible more) children. Eli WISINGER, b abt 1871 was Jesse Benjamin WEISINGER (1847-1918) and his 2nd wife, Martha Jane King. Eli died at age 89 in LA. He was first married to Mattie BROOM and was reportedly married a second time, but I do not have any names or dates. Eli had 10 children: Author, b Apr 27, 1899; d Jun, 1925; Jay, b Sept 11, 1900; Nellie, b 1901; d 1980's; Virgie, b Nov 3, 1903; d Mar 20, 1994; Tommie, b Mar 14, 1905; d Dec 1984; Vard, b Nov 4, 1907; d Mar, 1970; Fannie, b Feb 18, 1909; d 1970's; Oral, b Nov 14, 1911; d Mar 22, 1997; John, b Aug 16, 1915; d 1963; and Mary, b Mar 28, 1921. Your great-grandfather Jesse Benjamin was the s/o William Thomas WISINGER (1808-1865) and Elizabeth Ann M. GRAVES. William Thomas is a brother of the other Eli (Levi) WISINGER reported in another reply to your posting.

Jesse Benjamin WEISINGER and his 1st wife, Mary Ann Hill apparently did not have any chidlren. However, he had 9 children with his 2nd wife, Martha Jane King. The nine are: Thomas Gordon, Eli, Edward, Elijah, Nancy, Margaret, Minni Ola, Martha and Mary. I don't have a lot on these children, but Elijah apparently used the WISINGER surname and married Della BAIN and they had 2 children: Oscar and Alonzo. Elijah marrired a second time, but I do not have any further information.

If anyone on this board can fill in detail of these families, please post so all can share.

Subject: Wisinger, Wissinger, Wiesinger, etc

Posted by: Al Wissinger
Message: Joe: Please contact me at soldier@cts.com . I am a Wissinger Researcher and I believe that the John Jacob Wisinger you have was the son of Balthasar Wissinger, s/o Johann Ludwig Wissinger. I have little to nothing on the Wissingers south of the state of Maryland. Would like to exchange info. I have a relatively large database on the Wissingers and I would be happy to provide you with info you may be looking for.

Al Wissinger
San Diego

Daisy was born May 29, 1907. Her sister Willie is not buried with her at Crossroads Cemetary, but somewhere in Mississippi where she lived. Very interested in seeing photos of Uncle Jack and Uncle Cal. I was Uncle Jack's "buttercup", Crystal. Daisy is my maternal grandmother.
