Hello Joan,

I was just checking the Wipff family tree. My grandmother was Annie Theresa (Wipff) Koch, married to Henry P Koch. My father was Robert Koch. My great grandfather was Theordore Wipff, son of Francis Joseph Wipff (my great great grandfather). His father was Gene (John) Wipff from Alsace-Lorraine. Gene Wipff would be my third great grandfather. I remember grandma talking about the family re-union's she went to in Texas, and she talked about Uncle Mike. What a pleasure to read more about our ancestries.
Caroline (Koch) Mitchell

I know of two Wipff ranchs. One in Quemado and one south of Eagle Pass. I spent a number of years growing up on the southern ranch after my mother, Magdalen Wipff Handley, passed away. It was sold in the early 1960s. The northen ranch stayed in Wipff ownership until a few years ago when Karl Wipff Jr. sold out and moved to South Dakota. He has since moved back to Texas and settled around Abilene. He has two sisters, but I don't know where they are. I researched the mineral rights on the south ranch in the late 1970s. There were some rights left then but I don't know about know. They were called non-partipitory (sp) rights. Let me know I can help you with any other info. D.W. Handley

I am looking for information on Conrad Wipf who was born about 1860 in Switzerland. He came to the United States on a ship called the Mosel, April 18, 1881. He is listed in the 1890 Philadelphia City Directory as an umbrella maker. I think he may have married into my Zink family but I am not sure. The 1930 Census shows he is 70 years old, widowed and living in an old soldiers home in Philadelphia, Pa.

Hi:

Don't you just love being a Wipff. It makes research so much easier. It the name is Wipff and they are in Texas, we are related. I have wondered for some time how we might be related to the Wipff's in South Dakota. Someday I am going to research that.

I am Joan Kay Wipff, my Wipff's come from Texas, so we are related for sure. I may have some information that you don't have as I have hooked up with someone in Belgium who has found Wipff information.

Please email me at joanglasgow@yahoo.com

Hi,

I just posted an obituary for Daniel Webster WIPFF. He was survived by his parents, his wife, one son, 3 brothers, and a half-brother and half-sister. This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of the San Antonio Express newspaper dated Nov. 5, 1918, and you can see it online here:

http://theoldentimes.com/danielwebsterwipff18bxtx.html

I hope it's helpful!

Barbara
http://theoldentimes.com/deaths.htm
http://theoldentimes.com

Joseph, Theo, Caroline & Marie Theresa Wipff were four of eight siblings. Their parents were Francois Joseph Wipff & Marie Anne Derier. You can find them when you do a search in 'Family Trees'. Although, you have probably already done that, but that is where I got my info on the Wipffs. I hope that helps, anyway. I haven't come across a "Theresa A." yet in my research. If I do I'll let you know.

My husband's GGGrandfather is Leopold Zuercher who married Caroline Wipff (1859-1929). One of their children is Theresa who may be named for or after your Theresa Wipff. I've learned from my husband's family that Joseph Wipff Sr (one of the founders of D'Hanis Tx) and his brother Theo were prominent ranchers of Maverick County. Do any of these names ring a bell?

Please reply, if so. Thanks!
