I feel I know so little, and it is amazing to put out this feeler and get a reply from someone who actually knows! How would you like to have further discussions? I have this contact, also my home email sandrabalcombe@mac.com and my work email sandra.balcombe@justice.govt.nz.
Elida Winters, Marion Ohio

Would like to see if anyone out there working with Marion County Ohio or the Winters family has any information an Elida Winters, b. abt. 1863 and married in 1881 to Perry M. Jones. We did not know about this marriage until today, assuming that Perry's marriage to Eleanor Fahey was it. Evidently, not so.

Could not find a death record for Elida Jones in Marion County's probate records at Ohio Historical Society, nor a grave. I'm thinking that the marriage was either annulled OR ended in divorce.

Any help appreciated!

Ferndinand Lloyd Winters and Mary Margaret O'Brien were my great grandparents. My father's mother Loretta Mary (or Mary Loretta Winters) was born on 5/26/1891 so their marriage must have been sometime before that. I do know that both of the Winters died in 1941 and that they had at least one other child my aunt, Isabelle (don't know her middle name) but she married a Charles Riley. Hope this helps somewhat. I am trying to determine the date that my great grandparents were married. Anyone know something?

Hi Sandra

Your great grandmother was my great grandma also. She married my great grandfather, James Martin, after they had both emigrated to New Zealand. A Martin family tree that I have has some notes about them including that Mary Jane was 5ft 8in, and that her father Edward was a bootmaker and 'fanatical Orangeman'. They had 7 children in NZ, one of whom was my grandfather. There's quite a tragic story about the Winter family's voyage to NZ.

Get in touch and I can provide you with some more details.

Regards

Pat

The only thing I have right now on Richard H. Winter(s) is this: I found him in the 1880 Census in Cole, Sebastian county, Arkansas. He was born in abt 1850 in Mississippi, but in this 1880 census, he is living next door to Lewis F. Winters. Look at the 1880 census index at FamilySearch.org. Richard was age 30, I believe, at this time. His spouse was Mattie A. ___________, born in abt. 1852 in Alabama; the children I have listed are William M., Ida, Alexander, and Margarett A. Winters.

As far as George B., all I have is that his son might have been Lewis Green Winters. I am certain that Cintha McNeese who married George W. was of Cherokee descent, but I don't know how to prove it. I will see if I can learn anything more from family members.

Hi Daniel
If your John has parents John WINTERS and Ann CUNNINGHAM and so does my James, then I suppose they must be brothers but then do you know for a fact that your John was in Canada before coming to Australia, and did the whole family go, mabye that is why I can not find their arrival, I was looking in the wrong place. Do you have any dates I could check on. So many questions. I can not even find a web site in Ireland to check them against. Any information you would like on James and Bridget and their 8 children I am most happy to share with you. My James and Bridget MURPHY married at Roma and lived at Morvern, he on a station and she as a domestic. Oh I must tell you I was born and raised in Cairns and only moved in 1989. My mother is still alive but my father (true WINTERS) isn't. Waiting to hear from you, or you could e-mail me direct at dianedoak@iinet.net.au

My GG married his wife in Morven (same area). Is your relative John James and would you be willing to share if you found anything.
The article is part of the answer. I'm looking for his siblings and parents. I have an ancestor who has the last name Winters, parents and family before his birth lived in Hunt County, Texas BUT this particular ancestor was BORN in Winters, but was raised in Hunt County. In others words, I'm looking for the reason this particular Winters family was visiting Winters, Texas. What's the connection? I appreciate any info on John Winters' siblings and/or family

In the book that mentions John N. Winters, it states he was one of eight children. I just know that one of those eight is my James Wesley Winters. I would love to know who the source was for this info. Of course, the source is dead by now, but if only someone out there knew more!!! I'm so close to knocking down a brick wall, I can just taste it!!! I'm sounding pathetic, but I'm so close!!!

We are sooooo close to finding John N. Winters' family. I just need to concentrate on finding his brothers and sister. The 1870 census was the last census to list them as a family. Then they all fall off the face of the earth except for John N. Winters and his sister Rebecca (Winters) Conner. I'm trying to tie my great grandfather James Wesley Winters with this particular line. James Winters is listed in the 1870 census with family, but again, they fall off the face of the earth. Where are brothers Samuel, William and sister Delana Winters? Thanks a million for all the help. We are sooooooooooooooo close, I can feel it!

LV "Jim" Winters 1938-1999

I am looking for any information on my biological father. So far I know his name was Lorenzo Vincent Winters, although he used the intials L.V. or the name Jimmy/Jimmie or Jim. He was born 3 December 1938 in Alabama, and died 1 February 1999 in a fishing accident in Texas (I have found sources online stating his date of death was 15 February, but also found a new article dated 3 Feb stating that his body had been found). For a period in his childhood, he lived in Oklahoma as that is where he applied for a Social Security card in 1953. He would have lived around the Birmingham, AL area in early 1977, and he might also have lived in Louisiana around 2002. He may have been a truck-driver.

His mother and father were Hiram Lorzo (may be spelled Harem Lorenzo) and Pearl Winters of Walker County, Alabama. He may have had a wife named Joan or June. He also had another wife in Texas. I have been told that he has several other children scattered throughout the Southeast.

Any information would be appreciated!

Your not sounding pathetic! How do you think I feel when I know that part of my family line changed their last name and the rest kept it the same? Your closer than I am and it makes me feel good that I have helped someone do their family tree like my maternal grandmother did her side of the family with my mother. No that isn't the part that changed, it was on my father's side.

I do know that 1 girl was the oldest.

? Albin Winners (we dont know if his 1st name was Charles or not. Sorry. He had a son who he named James Albin Winners.

James Albin Winners had a son and his name was ***James Curtis Winners (dob: 08/04/1932 in Toledo, Ohio; dod: 09/27/2004 in Fort Wayne, IN). ***my father

James C.
Hello there,
We have the same family. I am just confused as to where each the branches of our trees meet! My initial thought (I am quite excited about your email as I have so few WINTERS contacts over the years) is that your GG Grandfather James is my GG Grandfather John's brother. My John's parents from his Marriage Certificate are John Winters and Ann Cunningham, who were from "Killukan" near Carrick-on-Shannon, County Roscommon. My John was married in 1876 in Gayndah (South Burnett) Queensland to Mary Jane CAMPBELL from Ipswich, and they then moved to Augathella where many of his descendents still live. My family lore also involves disussion of driving the cattle with the Durack family to the Kimberley. I would be very happy to share research with you! My name is Daniel Winters - and I live in Perth but my parents and brothers are all in Cairns. I have been doing the family history for about 5 years now, and I am currently studying for a Post Grad degree in family history with the Uni of New England (NSW). Very much looking forward to hearing from you again!!! Regards,
Daniel

I also an a direct descendant of Geo and Cyntha. It's great to find y'all! R H Winter is their son, and my grgrgrandfather. Looking forward to getting anything about Richard Henry Winter. He seems to have been a black sheep of the family. What about the Cherokee connection?
Gordon

I have a Relative (10th generation, according to the register report I am looking at). Admiral, Sir William Wynter of Lydney.

His son Edward (Born 1556) married Lady Anne Somerset on 8 Nov 1595 when Edward was 39.

I do not have any other information on Edward. I am not sure if this information will help you or not. Please let me know.

Gloria Ann (Winters) Morton
