I am helping a friend do her family research and she is showing a John W Alexander that married a Louise Winnett - the children we know of are Frank and James Alexander. It is stated that Frank may have possibly been born in Pittsburgh Landing Tennessee.

In the mid-1960s, Edna Brown, a descendant of this couple, wrote a well documented summary of their line. She did not attempt to trace William back to England, but she did have the same family tradition that he came from Liverpool. I have a copy of her "book" (mimeographed pages in binder). I think it is also available through the Family History Center. William and Sarah are my 5th great grandparents, and I have a portrait of their grandson Lot and his wife Hester Budd who are my ancestors.

Hi in Australia too
My ggrandfather was Thomas Wynniat, pronounced Winnett, he was born somewhere in Gloucestershire around 1836 and came to Australia in the 1850's.
My research is not proceeding any further back in time as I am unable to trace an exact b'date etc.
He arrived in South Australia staying there for a while before settling his family in the central west of Victoria near Edenhope.
Must be a connection between the two names somewhere.

Would anyone be related or know information about a Thomas and Mary Winnett from Alcester. I have all their children and the more recent generations, i need to know about Thomas's parents in particular.
Also one of Thomas's daughters emigrated to Illinios we believe and became a member of the daughters of the revolution. We have always been led to believe her name was Maud, but Thomas has no daughter listed of that name, perhaps she was named one name but called another. any info would be great!

Actually they married two of his grand-daughters through Geroge Winnett and although they married in Cass County GA. (why, I don't know) in 1860 they all lived in Marion County TN.

Hi sue, Don't know if you will even get this message or not. My mom was born to (I have to find the records) Winnett in Sparta, TN. His wife was Amanda Smith Winnett. My mom is the only living member of that branch of the Winnett family who is from that area of Warren County, TN. They had 11 Children all of whom lived mostly in Tennessee. I have some of those records. Although I know my mom has not updated her side with us kids and our kids. Wonder if in some way we are relatd. Small world now in which we all live. My mom Elsie Louise Winnett B 5/10/1921 Married AJ Hale but don't know the exact year but around 1943-44.

My grandmother was named maud estelle winnett Pfile. Actually my name was janice estelle Pfile. We were from Charleroi Pa. {Washington Co.} Someone named Nell Winnett, Twilight, Pa. Did a family History. I don't have a copy, but a first cousin of mine probably does, She lives in California. Her Name is evelynn Pfile McCrackken.

Mary Winnett - Switzerland/Pennsylvania/Alabama

Hi: Would like to locate my great great grandmother. Her name was Mary Winnett, born about 1831in Switzerland and she first married a Henry Beakley or Beakleay. They had a daughter named Lena, who was born in 1862 in Pennsylvania. Henry either died or they were divorced. (Lena may have married Frederick Nehrer in Cullman, AL. The 1880 US Census shows Mary married to Charles (Carl) Mager from Wurtemburg, Germany and living in Cullman, Cullman Cty, AL. She had two other children: Lily, who was born in Dublin, OH and Emma who was born in Colorado. Charles Mager later died in Colorado.

I have further information about Lillie and Emma.

As a family historian, I would appreciate any help I can get.

MANSFIELD: Wayne R. Winnett, 76, of Mansfield, OHIO passed away Tuesday December 4, 2012 in Kingston of Ashland following an extended illness.

The son of Sylvan and Lillian (Russell) Winnett, Wayne was born October 25, 1936 in Cambridge, Ohio (Guernsey County) and was graduated from Cambridge High School.

After graduating from Cambridge High School, he then graduated from Meredith Business College of Zanesville, Ohio. A licensed CPA, Wayne was self employed and retired in 2011.

Wayne enjoyed both classical and gospel music. His favorites however were classic hymns.

Wayne was well versed on the Civil War. He read numerous Civil War books and visited many battlefields.

Wayne was an active member of Ontario Free Methodist Church. For 27 years he served as treasurer for the Ohio Conference of Free Methodist Churches and The Ohio Free Methodist Foundation.

Wayne was also a member of SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives), where he spent many pleasant hours counseling area entrepreneurs.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carol (Stottsberry) Winnett of Mansfield, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Susan Winnett of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Ross Williams of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Helen Wyatt.

The family will receive friends Thursday December 6, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The family will continue to greet friends on Friday from 1p.m. - 2p.m. at Ontario Free Methodist Church where funeral services will begin at 2p.m. Pastor Tony Viscioni will officiate.
Burial will be held Saturday, December 8, at 10:30 a.m. in Zanesville Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Ontario Free Methodist Church Children's Ministries Fund, Mansfield Chapter SCORE, or Southern Care Hospice, may be made through the funeral home.

I haven't checked this website for years, and when I saw your post I was happy to see others are searching for ancestors. I found my information on the Mormon site www.familysearch.org. My ancestor is William Winnett too. He's my 5 great grandfather! If you go to their site, click on the heading Geneaologies at the top of the page and enter his name. You can go forward or backward from there. My Great Grandmother was Sarah Delilah Winnett, born in 1862. I'd be curious to know how your tree goes from William. Hope this helps you. Sara Parsons

I am also a Winnett. My great grand mother was Elizabeth who married Albert Winnett but it doesnt seem far enough back to tally with yours. Anyway they had 3 children, Elsie 1900, Albert Thomas 1901 and Henry John 1904 (my grandfather). They all seem to be from the Kings Norton area of Birmingham.
I am really interested in finding out about Albert's sister Maud who is said to have emigrated to Illinois US and became a member of the daughters of the revolution after proving to them she had american blood by having her tree professionally traced to Button Gwinnett. Oh where is that tree now??? we could all do with it huh?
Any info would be most welcome, or if i can help?

thats ok the only abbreviations i used were "b" stands for born and "dau" is for daughter. and "Pa." was Pennsylvania.sorry i could not be more help, dont worry im still learning alot too and ive been at this awhile as well.
