My great great grandfather was Andrew Wimmer which was Johann Wimmmer's brother who was married to Theres Moosburger. They were married 11/9/1875. Johann and Andrew's parents were Johann Nepomuk Wimmer and Ottilla Aigner. Andrew was married to Theres's sister Rosalie.. Theres and Rosalie parents were Georg Moosburger born 3/9/1819 in Frichlkofen, Niederbayern Germany and Theresia Streifender born same place on 4/5/1817. that is all I have collected so far. I am going to look for Andrew and Johann parents where they were born. call if you know more than this 940-597-9671, I live in Denton, texas

Hi folks,

The parents of Clarence Myles Wimmer (born in Detroit, MI) were:

Charles Ceneth Wimmer b. 1885 St. Louis, MO - d. 1970
- and Margaret F (unsure of maiden name?) b 1883 Illinois - d.?

Charles Ceneth was my great grandfather Albert's brother:

Albert Donnel Wimmer - b. 1881 d. 1969
& Agnes Byron Penn. Their son was Richard Wimmer (b. 1925 Nason, IL - d. 2003 Farmville, VA), son

Albert and Charley Wimmer spent time in a foster home as children. As the story goes, their birth parents, Walter Wimmer and Annie E Ward gave them up for adoption in Missouri but had other children as well. The foster parents were Jeremiah Sisk and Rachel E Cast. I'm not sure how long Albert and Charles lived with the Sisks - or what the circumstances were for going there in the first place.
However, I have been told stories that my greatGrandpa Albert said the Sisks were cruel to them....and that they ran away. Whether they ran away for good or just from time to time is uncertain.

The Wimmers lived in St. Louis and the Sisks lived in Marion, Illinois which is where Albert Donnell Wimmer raised my grandfather.

Charley Cenenth and Albert had at least 2 other brothers and a sister, all born in the St. Louis, Missouri area.

Walter L Wimmer b. 1881 - d. 1903 (maybe Albert's twin brother? no other info);

George E Wimmer b. 1884 (this might be George Albert/Elbert WImmer); -d.? (seems to have married, though was a widower by 1920. i have no name for the spouse.)

and finally Mary A Wimmer, b. 1886. - d.? (no other info)

I hope this helps. The Wimmer family line is cloudy at best due to the fostering of Albert & Charley and Walter & Annie having more children somewhere in between. I'm not entirely sure what the whole story is. This information is based on minimal firsthand account, family tree linking on Ancestry.com and census records found there.

Up until right before i found this post, i didn't know my grandfather had any cousins at all. I was led to believe the last of the Wimmers came through Albert's sons - Richard and Russell....

Any gaps in the story that someone could shed some light on would be appreciated.

I am De Lois Wimmer My husband was M.J. Wimmer. His people came to the U.S. through Galveston thento Houston. Some of the Wimmers lived in Baytown. I am in Clarewood House Retirement Community. There was a Ruth Wimmer here at one time I used to get her mail since we had the same last name. She was in ECC which is the critcal care unit. She haas either passed on or has moved. I can give you the name of the Chaplain here. He is aware of thosed who have passed or move away. His name is Rev. Thomas Hill, his phone is 713-774-5821 Ext. 288. You could write him at 7400 Clarewood Drive Houston, TX 77036. When I talked to her she said she was not related to our Wimmer family. I travelled to Germany and we found out Wimmer is a very common name, like Smith or Jones in America. In Munich the Mayor at that time was a Wimmer. There was a Wimmer Street and we found a Wimmer Cafe. We were in Freising, where my husbands grandfather was born and raised. He was a woodcarver. The young lady at the Co-Cathedral was kind enough to look through the church records for us. She advised the best way to find out more information was to speak German and go to all the little churches around the community. The Co-Cathedral was tied to the Catholic Church in Munich. The Bavarian area is very delightful. The people are especially lovely. A business man heard my husband and I speaking English he told us when we came to Germany we should speak German. I can sing it but I don't speak it. Really all you need to say is bite (bitah) which means thank you. Good luck! I hope you find Ruth, I found her to be a very sweet little lady. She is worth finding.

I'm afraid they are not the same Wimmers. It's somewhat frustrating and amusing to me that first names repeat themselves in different branches of the family. My great uncle Willard Wimmer married a lady named Irene, but they were childless. They lived their whole lives in Dubuque, Iowa. One of my brothers has all the old family bibles, and somewhere in my stuff I have Uncle Willard's middle name. I just got started on Ancestry. com in June, so if I learn anything else or come up with something that seems to relate to your relative I will let you know. Thanks!

My Great Grandfather was John Wimmer born 1829 in Bavaria, Germany. He arrived in the US in 1853. He married Anna Hofmeister in 1855. Anna was born in Bavaria also and came to America the same year. They lived in Madison County, New York.
I am looking for any information. I am unable to find any records of them in Germany.
Their 3 surviving sons were John Jr., Martin and Henry.

I am the daughter of Laura Manning. I was raised by Laura and Clarence Wimmer. My 1/2 sister is the daughter of Laura Manning & Clarence Myles Wimmer. Clarence was born March 10, 1910 and passed away August 18, 1970. I do not believe he was born in Terre Haute, that is where his father & step mother lived. Clarence was born in Chicago most likely. Laura & Clarence were divorced October 1961 and remarried shortly there after. Dad's brother, Charles, passed away at a young age. Edna, his sister, was the only one old enough to have children. I noticed on a Wimmer family posting on RootsWeb that there appear to be 2 Polly Wimmers who could be being confused.

Jacob Wimmer and Jemima LeBoyteaux had a daughter Polly b abt 1804 who reportedly married Henry Thurber.

Jacob Wimmer and Jemima LeBoyteaux also had eldest son Peter b 1782 who married Elizabeth Shirley and they had a daughter Polly b 1813 who reportedly married Jacob Pickens.

There is nothing further on these woman so no help in clarifying who is who.

I understand there is a published Wimmer work which my brother's mother-in-law has.

The Jerome W. Wimmer that you list appears to be the younger brother of my ggrandfather, L. V. Wimmer. I would like a copy of the "old paper" that gives information on Jerome's life that you offered.
Do you have other information on the Wimmer family history? I believe that Jerome's parents were John and Sarah and that his grandparents were John and Mary Wimmer. My information is quite limited and I'd like to connect with anyone who has researched this family.
My maternal grandmother, Belva Esther Vanschoyck. married L. V. Wimmer's son, William, in Illinois and they later moved to Iowa and Minnesota before settling in Wisconsin prior to 1920.

im searching,it seems in vain for my nans father.she never met him,her mother emily west wasnt married to him and my nan spent most of her childhood growing up with her grandmother,mary west.
karl would hae been in england,the worplesdon area in 1918/19.my nan was born on may 16th 1920.

My name is Michelle Calabresi. I am using my mother-in-laws account. I am related to the Wimmers. But my problem is that I am trying to locate the grave for an infant who was born and died November 1886 in West Virginia. He was born to William Riley Shrewsbury and Cynthia Olive "Ollie" Wimmer. I know that the baby was buried the Wimmer Cemetery, but I don't know the gender. I am trying to find out as much info about the Wimmer's as possible.
