Seeking George W Wilson, born between 1824-1829 (approx.) in PA. Married to Mary Ann Forner or Fornier prior to 1854 (her name listed in son Joseph’s obituary), she was born in PA approx. 1827, died 12-10-97 in Bedford PA. George W was in the 101st PA Regt Co D in the Civil War (Bedford County PA company). He was captured in NC in 1864 and died in Andersonville, GA 10-6-64 …. IF I have the right PA George W Wilson. Unfortunately, there are SEVERAL George W Wilsons, and more than one married to a Mary Ann. The verifiable children are Jacob Wilson, born 1854, Joseph B born 1855, and Mary born 1858. All children were ID’d in estate records for Mary Wilson, as well as Joseph’s obituary (1937, Bedford PA) and the 1870/1880 census (Bedford PA). The trouble is, I cannot locate them in the 1860 census. Mary is a widow in the 1870 census. In later census info, both Jacob and Joseph ID their parents as born in PA. In Jacob Wilson’s death record (Davis, WV 1930), father is listed as George, mother Mary Ann … so I am comfortable with the names. What the problem is, IS, that there is nothing prior to 1870 … no census, no taxes, no church records … dead end. I am hoping to touch base with anyone who may link into the family or has some leads. I plan to do more detailed research into Civil War pension records for Pennsylvania “Mary Ann widows” to see if I luck into anything, but I really am at a dead end. The other lead I have seems to point back to West Virginia. Jacob and his wife moved to WV, but there seems to be family there already, and I am wondering if they possibly moved back and forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
