This Williams family came out of the Denbigh area, North Wales - there is supposedly a Williams line on Anglesea (Holyhead) - John's father Abel was born near Denbigh in 1829 to Thomas Williams, married Harriet Evans in Mold in 1860, and moved to Liverpool where son John was born. Abel ran a contractor business and put his sons through carpentry/joinery appenticeships. Abel got into speculative housing construction and lost his shirt when factory expansion plans changed. Sons Thomas and John moved on, Thomas became a Shipwright and went to sea eventually dying in Portland Maine USA in an accident. John married Catherine Miriam Johnstone/Johnson in 1882 and emigrated to New York for a while, returned to Liverpool and joined White Star Line as an elecrician on large ocean going liners, and raised his family in Liverpool. - Trying to trace families through North Wales, Maine USA, Anglesea, White Star Line, etc
