My feabdfather Joseph Willford,came from Sheffield,England,and settled in Bucks Co.,Pa. He was one of the early pioneers-1766.He marriedMary Ann Campbell in Bucks Co.Pa.The Campbells were of Scottish descent,but resided in northern Ireland;wre called Scotch-Irish.Mary Campbell along with other children were put in a stockade,at or near Penn's Valley,to protect them the Indians on or about,1754-1760. She and other children were captured,all died but Mary,she waas held captive 7 yrs.,and taken from them at Chillicothe or New Comerstown<Ohio by Provincial troops.She was then 14.She had brothers who participated in the Indian Wars,Daniel and William Campbell,Daniel Campbell was an officier (captain or colonel) in the army,and shot somewhere in Ohio by the Indians.William was also in the Indian Wars and retained land from the Gov.for his services.He located at or near Pittsburg,Pa. but died at the residence of his sister's Mary Campbell oldest son in Wayne Co.Ohio.
