Ida Mae Davis, daughter of James Omer and Estella Frances (Carter) Wiley, was born July 1, 1907 on a farm near Farson, Iowa in Wapello County. She attended country school and graduated from Batavia High School in 1926.

On July 3, 1926 Ida Mae was united in marriage to Roy Martin Davis. To this union three sons were born.

Ida Mae was employed at the Davis County Hospial in Bloomfield, Iowa where she was a Nurse’s Aide. She continued her employment as a Nurse’s Aide at the Palo Alto County Hospital where she worked for many years before her retirement. Ida Mae was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She always had a large garden and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was especially well known for her homemade egg noodles and she also enjoyed quilting.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she was a member of Church Circle. Ida Mae was a long time member of the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary.

Ida Mae died Friday, May 8, 2009 at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; a son, Wayne Davis in 2001; a grandson, John Davis; two sisters, Della Ingraham and Ethel Frome; a brother, Loren Wiley.

She is survived by two sons, Warren Davis and his wife, Judy of Prescott, Arizona and Dr. Wendell Davis and his wife, Nancy of Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Phylis Davis of Emmetsburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
