Thank you. A book would be really nice. I am stationed in Italy at the moment and would like to go to where we are from, just to see it and say I've been there. I don't think John was alive when I was born but I know Anita was. Grandma (Joyce) married Edward Hayes (my Grandpa and best man I ever knew) I wasn't close to Aunt Melda and Uncle Lloyd because they lived far away. I grew up in Victoria. But we say them on holidays and I was at both of their funerals.

I'm pleased to me you. I'm so glad this site works.

Forgot one thing. Of the 12 A. J. and L. Wiederkehr children, only 9 survived. 6 lived in Freer, Texas, 2 lived in Bellville, Texas, 1 lived in Corpus Christi. I am the youngest of all the Wiederkehr grandchildren. I was the only grandchild that L. Wiederkehr did not meet.

Monroe was born in 1906. My father was the youngest of 12 children. There were two sets of twins born. One set was still born and Uncle Monroe had a twin brother who was either still born or died later. I am not really sure. Grandpa, I have been told, immigrated into the US and sailed into Galveston, Texas where he moved to Bellville, Tx. He heard about land in South Texas for sale that was very cheap. I am not sure how many acres he purchased, but my brother and I still own approximately 1,800 acres of the original homestead. The rest of the old ranch is divided between the families of Henry Wiederkehr and Woodrow Wiederkehr.
My father's brother was Uncle Monroe who lived in Benavides, Texas, who was married to Aunt Clara. They had a son (deceased) named Clint Wiederkehr, who was married to Kitty Wiederkehr (deceased). They lived in Ft. Worth, Tx. (or around there). Kitty had researched the entire A. J. Wiederkehr family all the way back to Europe and even had pictures of all of my Wiederkehr ancestors. I do not know how far back she had gone, but she was going to have the collection printed in a book and each of the 9 families from A. J. & L. Wiederkehr were to receive a copy of it. She never got around to it. Would really like to pursue this. Your great grandmother was my aunt. I knew her and Uncle John well. Joyce had a sister named Melba Thomas Upton, who was married to Lloyd Upton and also lived in Freer, Texas.

He had a prior marriage in Galveston to: Bettie Abels 10-11-1875. He built the home I own there in 1892. They had a neice marry in the house sometime between 1892-1931. They wew members of St.Patrick's Catholic church near their home. He was a successful businessman (Grocer/Mercantile).Let me know if any of this rings a bell. Johannes died in 1879, but his son Alfred also started a vineyard/winery in Altus, Arkansas. I have more information on the Wiederkehr-Sax family if interested. Kasper Wiedkeher born in 1778 is as far back as I have. I would be interested in information further back than Kasper.

Thanks!

Justin

Wiederkehr / Wiederkahr

Joy Barnett
Hi. I have no idea as to where the Weiderkehr
family originated.
I have Wiederkahr's on my family tree. My third great grandfather Bernhard Mader married Elisabeth Wiederkahr on May 10,1798
She was his second wife. Elisabeth was born in Benken,Kanton Zurich in Jan.1758. Her
father was Heinrich Wiederkahr from Hori, Kanton Zurich. Her mother was Gottlieb Martz
from Marthalen, Kanton Zurich. They had a total of seven offspring. I have no further
info concerning this family.

During the peroid 1634 - 1647 another Wiederkahr family resided in Benken. Zacharias Wiederkahr and his wife Margaretha Bayer. This couple had eight offspring born
to them. F.H.L. microfilm # 0996810. Records of the Evang-reform Kirch, Benken,Zurich.

Also during the period 1690-1710 Andreas Wiederkahr and his wife Regula Lund resided
in Benken. This couple had eight offspring born to them. One son Johannes Wiederkahr
married Elsabeth Meister. This family must
have also resided in Benken because Johannes
died in Benken on March 7, 1776. F.H.L. microfilm # 0996810. This is all the information that I have uncovered concerning the Wiederkahr/Wiederkahr families.

You might want to check with the archives in
Zurich. The address is:
STAATSARCHIV DES KANTON ZURICH
Winterthurerstrasse 170
CH-8057, Zurich, Switzerland.

Their email address is: staatsarchiv.ddi@zh.ch
Good luck
