Since my last posting I have since learned that August Widmayer's father was Franz Widmayer, born in Germany, buried in Pierson, MI. I have also learned that his father was Moritz Widmayer born in Germany abt 1797 and died in Canada around 1876. Researching this family line has been a challenge. I have found about six variations of spelling for the surname Widmayer. If anyone has any info on Moritz for me I would much appreciate it.

I am a descendent of the Widmayer that came from Wurttemburg and Bayern Germany in about 1825.I can not remember the husband name(he was a baker) but the wife's name was Johanna(if my memory serves me right) But I would suggest that you do a search in the NY Times archive files
on the name Widmayer. The family was very wealth and their was a court case about 1895 where the sons George and Henry? were being sued by their elderly mother (or vice versa). In the articles you will get more information.

Widmayer Mary who married Rohrer Julius in 1900

Hello,
Having just started working on my Rohrer ancestors tree I found out that a brother (Julius Rohrer) of my grandfather Max Hugo Rohrer -(born in Pabbeln East Prussia on 15.5.1871- Died on 25.3.1913 in Vienna Austria) immigrated to the USA and entered Ellis Island on June 9th 1894.
He is the son of Friedrich-Julius Rohrer (born on 1.3.1839 in East Prussia and who died in 1875) and Helene Auguste Turat (Born on 8.10.1835).
From protestant church research I found out that he married Mary Widmayer on July 23d 1900 and he died on November 13th 1905.
They supposedly had 4 children.
I am looking to find out who these 4 children are and when they were born. Also if you have any other additional information or photos of Mary Widmayer and her children I would be very grateful.
Thank you for the time you can give me.
Best regards
Bastiaan Rohrer

bastiaan.rohrer@hotmail.fr
Hi Judy,

The Widmayer branch of the family is proving to be the most difficult. My GGrandmother Louise Widmayer born about 1857 in NYC. She married Matthew Schine and they had several children. Jacob, David, Christopher and Louise that I have been able to verify. I think I have the right set of parents in the 1880 census Page 27, Supervisor Dist 1, Enumeration District 190. 213 7th Avenue appears to be the address. It shows the parents as Louise and ?? F. Widmayer. Both emigrated from Wurtenburg Germany. It appears they were neighbors with another Widmayer family I'm thinking maybe brothers.

Let me know if you think this might be the same branch.

Thanks
Marge Woods

Dear Marge,

I hope you can help me with this family of Widmayers.

My grand-uncle, Howard Wyckoff Gifford, married first Lillian Widmayer, born 14 November 1877, probably in Manhattan. Her father was John G. Widmayer, born in Germany, mother, Mary ?. Lillian was one of 11 children born to this couple. In 1900 census of Manhattan 8th Ward, ED42, p. 26, dwelling 39, visit 145 at 161 Varick St., 7 of the 9 living children are residing with their parents. The father was a baker, as were some of the sons. Does this family tie in with yours?

Judy Baker

I was able to spend a little more time with the information I have on George A Widmayer and Hannah. They could have been married about 1859. They had several children, George F, Annie, Francisco and Louise. Louise would have been my Great Grandmother. If you're still checking this board periodically, please send me an email. I would be interested to see if you have additional information. I can tell you George and his father George were Bakers in NYC.

Thanks

I was finally able to trace this family line back a few more generations. Louise was born about 1857, her parents were George and Louise, both born about 1833. Her siblings included William, Frederick, George and Annie. George's parents were George and Johanna, both from Wurtenburg. This family is fairly large and the census records indicate they stayed in the Manhattan area.
