Seeking any descendants of David Whitfield, Sr. of Alabama (son of William Whitfield (Whitefield) m. Mary Towler) who married Hannah.

Specifically, I have seen other researchers for quite some time now
reference David's middle initial alternately as A., H., and N.

I have NEVER seen any reputable source for any of these middle initials, so would like to know your sources if you have them.

I wonder if some researchers haven't assumed his name was David N. or specifically David Nelson, since he had a son named David Nelson Whitfield.
However, even if he was ever referenced as David Sr. vs. son as Jr., I have often found cases where a father and son, named Sr. and Jr. share different middle names despite the same given name. David H. could be a typo for David N. due to the proximity of the letter H to the letter N on a keyboard.

David A. is more difficult to explain without a valid source.

It is important that we have accuracy on the name, so I am hoping someone can help clarify this middle initial issue.
