Trying to find the father of Barnabus and Joseph Whitfield. Early records have both men with either Whitfield or Whitfill as surname. Joseph is thought to be born in Maryland around 1770-1775. Barnabus was born in Eng. according to info given to census by his sons and was older than Joseph. Joseph married Elizabeth Riggs in Feb 1798 in Washington Co, KY. Barnabus(Barney) married Eleanor Constable in Washington Co, KY in early 1800's. Their mother's name was Ellenor. Barney's descendants have the Whitfield surname while Joseph's descendants are Whitfills. Any help or interest is welcome. Thanks.
