NEWARK: Graveside services for Mary E. Newell will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 1pm, at the Church of Christ Cemetery, in Tuppers Plains, Ohio.

Mary passed away on July 31, 2015, at the Arlington Care Center, Newark, (Licking County) Ohio following a brief illness.

Mary was born on July 19, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, (Montgomery County) to the late Dee Edward and Myrtle Mae (Kirkendall) Whiteis.
She lived with her family all over the state of Ohio following her husband's career in highway construction, finally settling in the Johnstown, Ohio area in 1978.
She loved solving crossword puzzles, visiting with friends, eating out and playing the organ which she did regularly while a resident of Arlington.


Mary is survived by her son, Larry (Cynthia) Downer of Johnstown; sister-in-law, Leila Whiteis of Wichita Falls, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clair L. Newell, who passed away in 1985 and by three brothers.

Larry and Cindy would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Arlington Care Center for their love and compassion for Mary during her residency there.
