I am looking for any whitehair my great great great grand mother ciecil florice whitehair was married to one of the Cherokee indian chief. her name was changed sometime to ciecil florice Smith.

Layor Whitehair and his wife Lydia Milstead are my great-great-grandparents. When my mother was alive she told me a little about him, but not much. I remember her telling me that when Lydia passed away he just up and left and no one knew where he went to. I don't have any information on either one. If you have anything to share please let me know.

I had a grandfather that lived in Wendell, W VA and they lived in Taylor county. His name was Charles Whitehair & his wifes name was Leana Pearl Whitehair, but everyone called her Pearl. My Fathers name was James William & my mothers name was Mary Jane (Mc Coy) Whitehair.
Did your Dad Mom know them??

I'm looking for the wife of Charles W. Whitehair(b 1862), Columbia Victoria Logan(b1862). They were married 15 Feb 1883 in Preston Co. I believe he died young and she remarried to John Manown Smith(b1858). I think she was the daughter of Richard K. Logan and She died in Lewis Co,WV on 23June1949. I'd appreciate any info on any of these people and a correction if my info in wrong. Thanks.

I ran across twins Jessie and Bessie when I was looking for Paul Whitehair. According to the 1910 census Bessie and Jessie had brothers Gordon b. abt 1895 and Paul b. abt 1898. In 1910 census A D Whitehair and Ida Whitehair had children Gorden, Paul and Halla. Paul seems to have gone to Ohio, and in 1920 he is married to Della (Evans I think) Whitehair. Do you have further information on this family? I would appreciate it.

I believe I also decend from this line. I couldn't trace any futher back than Georg Weishaar. I would love to exchange information with you. If you wish we could correspond by e-mail or regular mail. Lord knows I could really use the help. My great great grandparents are George Whitehair born about 1848 and Mary Whitehair born about 1844. My great grandfather is Niclas or Nicholas E. Whitehair born 1890. My grandfather is Cecil Whitehair. I may have found Marys line finally, but I am still stumped on georges. If anyone knows anything I would love to hear from you. I have three Salathiel Whitehairs in my records:

1st - Salathiel J., born approx. 1830 to John Whitehair and Ruhamy Castle in Taylor County WV;

2nd - Salathiel, born approx. 1850 to Henry J. Whitehair and Rhuhama A. in Taylor County, WV(Step Mother Martha J Giles); and

3rd - Salatheil A. born 17 February 1906 to Nathan Bruce Whitehair and Elizabeth Ann Jenkins.

It is Salathiel J. (born abt 1830) who married Frances J. Bartlett on 02 July 1857 in Taylor County.

Here are the known children:

George C Whitehair born abt 1860;
John Wesley Whitehair born - 28 December 1862;
Ulisas S. Whitehair born abt 1864;
Nathan Bruce Whitehair, born - 10 August 1866;
William L Whitehair, born - 06 September 1871;
Nancy Whitehair, born abt 1876;and
Stella Whitehair, born - 22 September 1879.

Frances died 23 March 1892. Salathiel then married Almeda Bates on 30 October 1895 in Harrison County WV.

Salathiel J. died 10 February 1910. He and Frances are buried in Simpson Cemetery, Taylor, WV.

OH His wife & mother of twins Ida Blanch Robinson, b. 14 Jan 1872 Wirt Co. WV d. 29 Jul 1939 Summit Co. I am a studier of the Whitehair families.

Sigler Cross married Bird Whitehair, Jul 18, 1889, in Ritchie County, WV.
This is the name given in the WV marriage records. I do not have a Bird Whitehair in my database tied to my known set of Whitehairs. I only have this marriage record. This could have been a pet name.

I don't believe your GGrandmother is the Virginia mentioned as the daughter of Thomas and Loula. I have her married to a Shaver.

I have another Virginia but she is in the wrong time period, being born in 1852, the d/o James and Louisa (Shadrack) WH.

Virginia C was born in 1862, the d/o Henry J and Martha J (Giles) WH.

If you have resolved anything, I would appreciate info. Also if you have anyway of ascertaining the Cherokee connection to the Whitehairs I would be very interested. I know some Whitehairs married Melungeons but have not been able to find other than folklore that there was a Cherokee connection.

Your father, Paul, son of George, and his brother Porter, live in Clarksburg area and your Aunt Mulvina who has passed away, was a frequent correspondent with my wife's grandmother and Mulvina's cousin, Ruby Myers. Her mother was Ada Whitehair, daughter of David and Mary Alice "Molly" Keener Whitehair. If you would want the information I have on the Whitehair family, please write. Mulvina was a major contributor to Ruby Myers work in researching the family. I need recent family info to add to the data I have.

Hello, I have a Salathiel Whitehair, in some of my information. All I have are his birth year, his father's name and his stepmother's name. I will give what little I have and hope this helps. This information was given to me by one of the stepmother's descendants' wife.
Salathiel Whitehair Born: 1850
Father's name: Henry J. Whitehair
Stepmother's name: Martha J. Giles Whitehair

WHITEHAIRS in Waggoner, Indian Territory

In an old family album that recently came into my possession I have an old photograph taken in Waggoner, Indian Territory. This photo shows an Eddie WHITEHAIR and a John WHITEHAIR along with a Dave BUCK and _____? RITCHERSON and an unnamed man who is listed as being the Chief of the Creek Nation. I am not really researching these names but I am curious as to why this photo would be in this album. I do know that our OLIVER & CHICK side of the family were well aquainted with thIs area of Indian Territory.

That sounds like it could be the same one in my family tree. Do you have any Dortons or Daltons in your line? I have a Nancy Whitehair that married Bethuel Dalton. I have her being the daughter of a George Whitehair and Elizabeth ?. Does that match anything you have?

There was a Nancy Whitehair that was my great grandmother. She was the daughter of Frances Pittenger and unknown mother. Her husband was George Whitehair. That is what I have found so far on my Nancy Whitehair. I also have a picture of Nancy and George Whtiehair.

Annabel Whitehair

GALLUP — Funeral services for Annabel Whitehair, 59, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Cope Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p,m, today at Cope Memorial Chapel.

Whitehair died August 4 in Gallup. She was born September 8, 1945 in Wheatfield, Ariz. into the Bitterwater and Salt Clan.

A graduate of Gallup High School, she attended Danguiatch High School in southern Utah. She worked for Wal-Mart for five years.

Her hobbies included watching cooking shows and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her three grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Ceferina Reyes, Lynette Reyes and Ana Alicia Reyes; mother, Isabel Whitehair; brothers, Leroy Whitehair Sr. and Vincent "Butch" Moreno Sr.; sisters, Katherine Herrera, Marian Salinas, Henrietta Ceja, Lisa Ann Higgins and half-sister Patricia Gomez, and three grandchildren,

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Whitehair, brothers Alfreddie Whitehair and Roger Whitehair, son Anthony James Whitehair, paternal grandparents Hoskie Greyhair and Mary Whitehair and maternal grandparents Notah Tayan and Kate Towne Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Antoine Fowler, Victor Julian Gomez, Roberto Yazzie, Ivory Bluitt, Jerald Todacheenie, Fidal Sanchez and Lynette Keyes.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 600 Draco Dr., Gamerco. Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

what year are you looking for, concerning Orville Whitehair? I have done some research on the Whitehairs. My great grandfather was Charles Rome Filmore (Phillip) Whitehair, b. July 20, 1887 - d. Nov 27, 1978. His mother Roseanna Dillon Whitehair Davis, was believed to be Cherokee Indian. His fathers name was was John Whitehair. Phillip had two brother John and Gordon, and one sister Agnes Whitehair Moore, and one half sister Pearl Davis Baumgardner Mann.

Let me know if this helps any and also give some years to look through and any other info to go off of and i will see what i can find to help you.

Hi, I saw your posting on the Whitehairs in West Virginia. My great grandfather was Charles Rome Filmore (Phillip) Whitehair. The Whitehairs where well scattered over West Virginia and there seems to be enough of them. I am trying find as much Whitehair info. as possible. Phillip's father was John Whitehair and his mother was Roseanna Dillon. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a copy of what information you might have.

I have info from Samuel FREELANDs Civil War records that he married Emily E. WHITEHAIR July 1868, and she died Jan 1869. He then married Lucinda SISLER. What FREELANDs do you have with SISLERs? Looking forward to hearing from you.
