I was wondering if anyone has information on Salathiel Whitehair or his first wife Frances Whitehair(Bartlett) of Taylor County, WV. Frances Whitehair was the granddaughter of Dr. Josiah Bartlett of New Hampshire, who was the second to sign the Declaration of Independence. Any information is much appreciated.

Hello, I have a Salathiel Whitehair, in some of my information. All I have are his birth year, his father's name and his stepmother's name. I will give what little I have and hope this helps. This information was given to me by one of the stepmother's descendants' wife.

Father's name: Henry J. Whitehair
Stepmother's name: Martha J. Giles Whitehair

I have three Salathiel Whitehairs in my records:

1st - Salathiel J., born approx. 1830 to John Whitehair and Ruhamy Castle in Taylor County WV;

2nd - Salathiel, born approx. 1850 to Henry J. Whitehair and Rhuhama A. in Taylor County, WV(Step Mother Martha J Giles); and

3rd - Salatheil A. born 17 February 1906 to Nathan Bruce Whitehair and Elizabeth Ann Jenkins.

It is Salathiel J. (born abt 1830) who married Frances J. Bartlett on 02 July 1857 in Taylor County.

Here are the known children:

George C Whitehair born abt 1860;
John Wesley Whitehair born - 28 December 1862;
Ulisas S. Whitehair born abt 1864;
Nathan Bruce Whitehair, born - 10 August 1866;
William L Whitehair, born - 06 September 1871;
Nancy Whitehair, born abt 1876;and
Stella Whitehair, born - 22 September 1879.

Frances died 23 March 1892. Salathiel then married Almeda Bates on 30 October 1895 in Harrison County WV.

Salathiel J. died 10 February 1910. He and Frances are buried in Simpson Cemetery, Taylor, WV.
