My parents and I presently have our particular family branch traced back to Joannes (or Johannes) Weishaar, born just prior to 1700 and (along with wife Euphrosina) with a family in Keskastel, Alsace.

One of Joannes's sons, Johann Georg Weishaar, eventually crossed the Atlantic, landed in Philly, changed his name (or had his name changed) to John George Whitehair, and settled around Frederick, MD.

After a good number of "begats" and moves from MD, to WV, and eventually to OH, Lo and behold, I popped out (Dayton, OH 1958).

To those of you "mining" this same family branch: Have any of you been able to push back beyond 1700? I've recently been provided with enough info to have doubts about Keskastel being the true "ancestral home" of our branch of Whitehairs and our Weishaar cousins.

I believe I also decend from this line. I couldn't trace any futher back than Georg Weishaar. I would love to exchange information with you. If you wish we could correspond by e-mail or regular mail. Lord knows I could really use the help. My great great grandparents are George Whitehair born about 1848 and Mary Whitehair born about 1844. My great grandfather is Niclas or Nicholas E. Whitehair born 1890. My grandfather is Cecil Whitehair. I may have found Marys line finally, but I am still stumped on georges. If anyone knows anything I would love to hear from you.
