I am looking for any information on Mary Morgan and John Wheeler -- she was born in Connecticut in 1629 and he was born in England in 1626. I am curious about her family line -- I have some info on his. I am wondering if she might have been Native American and where her family was from.

I, too, am researching this branch. I'm trying to find information on Richard Wheeler's daughter Mary. Richard (1683-1734) is the son of Thomas, and grandson of John Wheeler (1631-1694) and mentioned in his grandfather's will. Some sources indicate Mary(1705-?) married Benjamin Maddox. Does anyone have any proof of this?
Thanks for any help.
The name came from Tina Sander's tree. She is a longtime Wheeler researcher. She documents where she found the name here:

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/3167230/person/-1765621111/me...

I have to tell you that most of these descendancy relationships have been proved with y-DNA testing back to about 1707. See the Wheeler Surname Project here:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/wheeler/

Hope this helps.

Marianne Manley Granoff
Albuquerque, NM
granoff@zianet.com
Does anyone have a Wheeler family member that passed from Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD)? My chain of the Wheelers from MN/WI/Midwest has this and so I'm trying to see if there are others out there connected to my family that also have the mutation and/orthat passed other than the fourteen members we know about including my dad and grandpa. Some related names include Chodera, Lewis, Fountain, Ostransky, Lillyquest, Menominee, Zimmerman.

Sincerely,

Tam

Dennis: In your research of the Wheelers in Bullitt Co., KY (previously Jefferson Co) did you come across a Joshua who could have witnessed a will c. 1779-1789? I have this record:

Abstract of Early KY Wills and Inventories, Page 124
Jefferson County, KY
BRASHEAR, WILLIAM SR.
September 26, 1789-November 3, 1789
Son: Samuel Mason
Daus: Mary Ann, Elizabeth, other children but not named.
Wit: Anthony Phelps, Joshua Wheeler, Joseph Brashear, Edwin Phelps.

Brashear researchers seem to be saying that this William Brashear was the one killed by Indians in 1781 and that his will was not probated for many years, so the 1789 date may be a misnomer. I'm trying to figure out who this Joshua Wheeler might have been and if he had connections to the Brashears. Deven

A Sarah Brown married Joshua Wheeler in Madison Co., KY in 1795; a Nancy Brown married James Winders in Madison Co., KY in 1797 and Joshua Wheeler was a bondsman. I believe Sarah and Nancy were sisters. Although the Joshua Wheeler-Sarah Brown line has been researched by Wheelers, I can find no information on the Brown family of Madison Co. to which the two Brown sisters belonged. I'm hoping to find Wheeler researchers who also may be researching the Browns.

Questioning the marriage of William Wheeler and Susanna Matney

William Alexander Wheeler's son Allen never mentioned Susanna in his letters. (see my other post "New York Wheelers to MO, Ill, NE, KS, and beyond.")

The timeline is:

Marriage to Susanna Matney
1867 10 Jul Age: 21
Fulton Co. IL.

Marriage to Sarah Mock
1872 30 Oct Age: 26
Adair, Adair, Missouri, United States

Marriage to Catherine Gray
1885 May Age: 39
1900 census says married 6 years. Son Allen said 1885.

Marriage to Rosa Jobe
After 1910 Age: 65+

There is only 5 years between the marriage to Susanna and the marriage to Sarah. Researchers show she was still alive.

Susannah Matney
b. 1848 in Brown, Indiana, USA
d. 1882 in Illinois

My question is, did they divorce or do other researchers have Susanna married to the wrong William Alexander Wheeler?
This is my line.

Joseph Wheeler
B: 31 MAR 1809
Ohio, Herkimer, New York, United States

D: 1874
Silver Creek, Jefferson, Nebraska, USA

Parents

George Wheeler 1791 – 1882
Sarah Sherwood 1791 – 1813

Spouse

Polinia Green
Birth 26 AUG 1810 in Illinois, United States
Death 9 Oct, 1855
(P: David Green - Elizabeth Comstock)

Children

Elizabeth Wheeler 1830 – 1916
Jane Wheeler 1834 – 1928
Cyrus Wheeler 1836 – 1890
Allen Comstock Wheeler 1839 – 1934
Joseph Lawrence Wheeler 1843 – 1893
*William Alexander Wheeler 1845 – 1932
Sarah Emaline Wheeler 1853 – 1910

*William Alexander Wheeler (My great grandfather)

Birth 12 NOV 1845 in Albany, Albany, New York
Death 15 MAY 1932 in Canton, Lewis, Missouri

He sometimes shows up in documents as William "E" Wheeler.

Marriage to Sarah Mock (William's son Allen said "they were married five years and then she died.")
1872 30 Oct Age: 26
Adair, Adair, Missouri, United States
(1 child: Bell Wheeler.)

Marriage to Catherine McCall Gray
May 1885: William Age: 39, Catherine Age 14. (yes, the age is correct)1900 census says married 6 years. Son Allen said they married in 1885. Death certificate confirms her age.(7 children, 5 survived infancy.)

Marriage to Rosa Jobe
After 1910 Age: 65

Catherine McCall Gray (my great gandmother)

Birth 11 APR 1871 in Illinois, United States
Death 16 JUN 1910 in Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, United States

She died in the hospital before they could operate. Cause listed on DC was "Salpangitis". I have the DC and newspaper announcments.

Also have letters from her and William's son Allen written in the late 50s - early 60s. He wrote to my grandmother back then about the family history. He gave her the names I listed above along with family stories. He stated that their mother was part "Mohaw" and her parents were "Alican" Gray and Catherine "Jahones". (This is my major brick wall.)

If I can help with anything on this line feel free to email me or contact me here.

Re: Divorce of Valentine Wheeler & Sarah Goff

Still haven't found details. This msg is confusing, Para. 1 says, "There were TWO women petitioners... One case was Sarah Wheeler v. Valentine Wheeler. She won, ... . Para. 2 says, Fourteen women petitioned ... on adultery-inclusive grounds prior to 1773. ... Only two of the fourteen wives won divorces, ... Sarah was not one of these two. Para. 7 says,
"She waited over eight years to win her case, but win it she did!" But when & how? By 1775, Valentine was in Dutchess Co., NY, where he was a Lieutenant in the 3d Regt, Dutchess Co. militia (Hasbrouck's 1909 History of Dutchess County. p, 148.
On p. 278-9, Hasbrouck gives the following inscriptions from "the cemetery at Dover Plains": "In memory of Ephraim Wheeler, who departed this life May 10, 1808, in the 100th year of his age" & "Captain Valentine Wheeler, died Aug. 11,
1782. ____ 42 years.", This cemetery is now Valley View Cemetery & the citation, from ancestry.com, is, "Wheeler, Captain Valentine, d. 1782, Aug. f1[sic] a. 42 y." From usgennet.org comes, "Wheeler, Captain Valentine, d. 1782, Aug. 11, a. 42 y". Find-A-Grave has a memorial, #64177555.
Valentine is said in other sources to have d. in Oct 1790 or in 1791 & a Valentine Wheeler is in the 1790 census of Windsor, Berkshire, MA; & another Valentine, probably his son, in the 1790 census of Pittsfield, Berkshire, MA. I'm descended from Valentine's older brother, so he is not of prime concern. But empty spaces demand to be filled.

A few years ago I did genetic testing through Familytree DNA and matched with Warren William Jr who was Francis' grandson. I was lucky enough to meet him along with his nieces husband Jerry. Jerry has done extensive research trying to find out who the parents of Nathan were and as of the last time I spoke with him had been unsuccesful. I do know that our trees would meet somewhere because of the genetic testing but could not tell you at what generation.

Hello---I know this is a few years later than your last post but....I am ALSO a G-G-Grand-daughter of Francis B. Wheeler ....his daughter Lily was my Great-Grandmother whom I knew personally (she died in 1973).

I wonder how far you have been able to research? I find nothing PRIOR to Nathan and Mary Wheeler (Francis's parents). I was trying to trace back to the American Revolution--because I heard a family rumor that we go back that far. But maybe it was not the Wheeler lineage...not sure. My e-mail address is westcollect@comcast.net

Requesting information on the death of my paternal 5gr-uncle, Mason Wheeler, son of Aaron & Hopestill (Daggett) Wheeler. Rehoboth, Bristol, MA, vital records say he d., 23 Jan 1813.
However, I have a four page article on his father that says, "Mason b. 16 Nov 1769 Died at Rehoboth, 22 Jan 1812, a suicide by cutting his own throat. Unmarried."
The article does not provide a source for this info, but cites the papers of Clarence E. Peirce of Pawtucket, RI, for other info relating to Aaron Wheeler.

I have John Wheeler who is said to have been raised in Canada, married Ellen Perkins. Their son William (1827-1866) was born in Georgia, moved to Lincoln Co., TN and married Jane Cole by 1850. William's brother? Drury Wheeler is living with them in 1850. William, Jane, Jane's parents, Eli and Hester Cole and various George family members are in Grayson Co., TX as early as 1854.
Note that the full Wheeler family note, which is the basis for much of this info, can be found on the Findagrave page for William Ira Wheeler (1827-1866).

My Great-Uncle,deceased,was John James Wheeler, b.Aug.18,1905,(est. birth year 1906 on the Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan 1906 Census)in Netley Creek,Manitoba,Canada; died July 14, 1977 of cancer in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada and I don't know yet if he had and descendants. He was one of ten children of John Henry and Susanne Wheeler(nee Girard). Now, John Henry Wheeler emigrated from the U.S. in 1895 to Canada, got married to Susanne on Jan.19, 1898 in Selkirk, Manitoba. I wouldn't mind finding out what his background was besides being American and who his parents were and any brothers and sisters, etc. Is this any help?
Waudine Wheeler

I am searching for information about Waudine Wheeler who was born September 01, 1926 in Durant, MS. She married Jim Hughes born in 1912. He is from Chunkey, MS. They lived at 612 West Fulton, Canton, Ms and at 1521 Englewood Ave, Joliet, Il in 1948 and 1949. Her whereabouts were unknown after the Joliet address. It was believed that she moved back to MS, possibly Pelahatchie, MS. She has been labeled as Nandine and Mandine Hughes on my dad's employment records in 1948. He became employed at the Joliet Army Ammunitions Plant from 1949 till 1973. My mom, Earlean Hughes(Travis) said dad never divorced Waudine. She may have kept her married last name.

Re: found info on Anderson Putty WHEELER

Hi Nancy,
While I've never heard specifically of William Putty, the name and the Gainesboro, TN location do seem to indicate a possible family connection. Anderson Putty Wheeler was my great-grandfather. He passed on before I was born. I did, however, meet and know his widow, Minerva (Granny). Granny lived in White House with their younger son, Dukey Wheeler.
